Hi everyone, I did a search on this brand and a few positive comments came up, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried this brand recently. I first got curious about the brand when I read that it is often recommended for sensitive skin and mine has taken a sensitive turn lately... I checked the website and the ingredients look very pure and natural which is what agrees best with my skin. I would love to hear your experiences with this brand. |

While on a ski trip with my children I went to the spa at the hotel and they used Epicuren. I loved the body treatments I had using those products. I HATED the way my skin felt after the facial. It felt very dry and rough. I really felt as if she didn't choose wisely for my skin type. They have products for pre teen/teen skin and I did buy a set for my 12 year old daughter and I've been happy with them. My 16 year old son also has used it and I thought it worked nicely for him as well.

Thank you for that Kimberly. Hmm... if your skin felt like that after a facial it sounds like she must have picked the wrong products for you. I am glad to hear they worked for your children at least. Have the products got nice textures/ fragrance? |

Smoothskin,
The cleanser, Clean4Teen has a citrus smell. The ingredients: purified water, lecithin, bioflavanoids, natural organic surfacants from soy, vitamin e and k, and organic natural herbs. The Gifted - Antioxidant Serum Moisturizer has a light odor that I can't place. Not unpleasant but not citrusy. ingredients are vitamins a,c,d and e. aloe vera concentrate, almond, macadamia, kukui and avocado. those are blended with a seawood extract.witch hazel, e, orange oil and apricot. She tends to get oily on her nose. Both the kids play sports and this stuff has been very helpful. We plan on going back to ski and I'll look the products over more carefully the next time.
I have seen someone on ebay who seems to specialize in Epicuren.

Hi,
I've used a lot of epicuren. I know several people who receive tons of free skincare who absolutely SWEAR by it, and only it.
I have the colostrum cream, which is perfect for the most sensitive of skins, and really gives the skin a nice glow. Sometimes I use it as my night cream and add some oils to it. It is very soothing and smells citrus-y as well.
I have also used the five-step system, although i don't use scrubs, so I have not used the apricot scrub. I felt that the texture and efficacy of the apricot cream cleanser and PSF's green tea cleanser were about the same--they are both milky and nourishing, but not overly cleansing. Then there are the enzyme toner and gel, which are used after cleansing and pleasantly 'melt' into the skin. I've used their basic day moisturizer, but did not feel that it was very special. I'm more a fan of their "hydro-plus," which is marketed as a post-op treatment moisturizer. I highly recommend hydro-plus and colostrum cream if you are into nice, effective moisturizers. All in all, I think the 5 step system is nice, but it didn't do that much for my skin.
Finally, I absolutely love their lemon verbena after bath body moisturizer. It is really a fabulous formulation, keeps me moisturized all day. It is not my FAVORITE moisturizer, but my second favorite (Osea's ocean lotion is the best I've ever tried, by far). the scrubs were pretty average as well. I think it is a very nice treatment line, wit some great standouts.

Smoothskin,
I forgot to add that I use two of their sunscreens which are very cosmetically-elegant, but they are mostly chemical: the propolis sport treat spf 45 and the epicuren spf 15. And I have a bottle of 30 that I haven't opened yet! But they are chemical sunscreens, and I am trying to get myself to like mineral sunscreens, such as avene's creme mineral 50. It's not working, and I miss the ease and nice scent of the epicuren one, I admit!
I also use their bulgarian rose otto, which is extremely concentrated and nice when added to the hydro plus with some HA. But I think you can get it less expensive from another vendor.
Everything in this line does smell divine (except the propolis line), and the ingredients are all pure and nice, I just think they are extremely gentle and not that active (exception: colostrum cream).
May I ask how your skin is being reactive at the moment? What are your symptoms and what are you using? Because my skin, which was always completely predictable and unreactive, suddenly became very sensitive and problematic when I moved to a different country. Epicuren didn't really help, but other things did. If you tell us what is going on with you, maybe we can give you some generic recommendations as to which types of products and what kinds of ingredients you should be looking for. Avene mineral mater and Darphin chamomile aromatic fluid for sensitive skin are both saving me from mild rosacea and rashes right now, for instance.

Thank you Bluesheart, the scents sound lovely and not at all synthetic so your post has got me more interested.
Avalange, thank you a million for the detailed posts and for showing such care about my skin. You are so lovely. Do you remember that I posted about having an allergic reaction a while back and you were trying to help me? I had to take some tablets and stay away from my products for a while. I thought my reaction was triggered by either my Z Bigatti moisturizer, Environ vitamin A moisturizer or Osea. Well, I was so sure it could not be my beloved Osea so I introduced it again on my neck and unfortunately woke up with a red rash all around my collarbone. The Z Bigatti eye cream also caused redness when I tried to introduce it again. So basically, I need new gentle skin care. I have just got a new Sisley cleanser and toner and I have a holy grail day cream with a zinc based sunscreen from Marie Veronique that you might like. It also contains pearl powder, anti oxidants and other goodies and the texture is the most pleasant I have tried. I am looking for a night cream and an eye cream and I have decided that I would like to try the Colostrum cream from Epicuren. What is colostrum by the way? |

oh no, smoothskin! I am sad that your skin is so reactive, I remember the thread now. Sometimes our skin goes through temporary changes, and we have to set some products aside. Perhaps when your skin normalizes again you can continue with the osea, because it works!
I also had to stop using retinol-based products when I moved because I was getting acne all around my chin and mouth. It wasn't really acne, but more like an eczema-acne reaction! It was horrible, and continued for a month, and was triggered by anything acidic or retinol-based. I actually used rose and roewood to re-balance my skin (sanoflore/la fleur organique rosewood foaming cleanser, rosewater toner, and epicuren's rose otto). Now I am using Skinceuticals retinol 1.0 without incident! So don't toss anything, just pay attention to your skin.
colostrum IS colostrum, take it or leave it!

Colostrum is the pre-milk fluid produced from the mother's mammary glands during the first 72 hours after birth. It provides life-supporting immune and growth factors that insure the health and vitality of the newborn. |
but cosmetic grade colostrum is from animals. there is no scientific evidence behind it, but it is a very nice cream, if it does leave behind a slightly sticky residue. It smells like citrus and apricots, not like some funky animal by product.
Honestly, my advice to you is to get some of darphin's chamomile aromatic fluid, which is calming, balancing, for redness, and is comprised of completely natural ingredients. I am loving it! I am mixing it with colostrum when my skin begins to freak out. Red patches diminish almost immediately, and my skin is left nourished and calmed. It's expensive, though, so maybe carekate can make you a version--I am sure she has all the ingredients in her 'lab.' I just did a review with most of the ingredients posted; if you are really interested, then I'll post all of them. Good luck!

Thanks so much again Avalange for taking the time and giving such helpful advice. I had a suspicion that colostrum was an animal by-product, but it has not put me off. I think it could be a great soothing night cream for me. I have used the Darphin chamomile oil before and it was pleasant enough, but did not do any wonders for my skin. In fact, any oil based products are hit and miss for me. I will take your advice on the Osea though because I introduced it at the same time as retinol, so I will come back to it in a few weeks. I had the starter kit in November and finished it with no problems, so I am still hoping... |

Smoothskin,
I don't think the darphin is a wonder product, but it is extremely calming.
Here, I'll confess: I sometimes get cold sores (I used a tester of a lipstick with a friend and we BOTH got them at the same time about a month later!!!!, now I've only had two since, but am PARANOID), and what with all of my hard water problems here in France, my skin was an itchy, red mess if I let tap water touch it (I wash with avene mist now, as you know, but I would let the shower water get on my skin)... Well, I had this lingering itchiness near where I've gotten cold sores, so I freaked out and iced the hell out of it for hours, and then applied nail polish remover to the area just at the border of my lip and chin. When I went to look at myself in the mirror, i had a veritable wound there--red, raised, with striations, disgusting! I put the chamomile fluid on it and within an hour, my skin was completely back to normal, without a trace of red. That's the only reason I think it is nice for balancing or for helping out red skin or rashes. I'm excited to keep it on hand for that, but I'm certainly not using it as a daily treatment or expecting miracles. So if you make a mistake with retinol or a product doesn't agree with you, it is nice to have something on hand to help.
But let us know how it goes with the colostrum cream!

Avalange, your experiment with nail polish for itchy skin made me laugh - the things we do to improve our skin. I have the Sisley Linden Blossom mask at hand for similar disasters. I find it incredibly soothing and clarifying at the same time. I will let you know if I go for the Colosrtum cream or anything else from the range... |

I have used Epicuren on and off for many years and always keep going back to it. I LOVE the Colostrum serum, that is my favorite product. I also like the Propolis line, both sun products and the Enzyme concentrate. My skin always looks very healthy when using this line. |

Can you tell me how long it took you to see results from the Colostrum? I used a sample of it, but didn't notice a difference. |
