UVA Range - suntan and photosensitivy, skin damage
UVB - sunburn, skin cancer
Is there a difference when the labels says- SPF 55 (UVA + UVB protection) it prevents you from sunburn but at the same time gives you a tan.
Whereas lets take Dr. Hauschka Sun Screen SPF 20 - and it says prevents sunburn and permits no tanning.
Is it as they say it is or is there another science behind this ?  |

Well, it is said that an SPF of 15 will block 93% of UVB and SPF 30 blocks 97%. I think only a physical sunscreen like 100% zinc oxide, etc. gives 100% blockage.
The "permits no tanning" tag sounds like a marketing plug to me. I personally use Banana Boat on my body and Neutrogena on my face - but I know there are folks out there who will be able to tell you what is a 100% sunblock and which products they prefer. No matter what I use or how much, unless I am wearing a giant hat...I do get a little sun.... |
