Hi everyone:
I currently use MAC Fast Response eye cream and I like it's depuffing effect. It makes for a good concealer base too.
I am looking at changing my skincare routine. If anyone read my "going to derm. and worried about products" thread, I'm sure you know some of my concerns.
After sifting through Paula Beguon's book, "don't go to the cosmetics counter without me," I think I may give MAC's cleanse off oil and MAC SPF moistuizer a try. Any thoughts? I haven't read much about MAC skincare.

I never really gave MAC skincare a try as i always thought of them as makeup specialists not skincare. The only thing i've tried from their skincare range is the strobe cream, which is an ok makeup primer. It broke me out, and turned me off all MAC's other skincare products. I like using their wipes in the store but would never buy because i think it's overpriced. |

Yes, i've tried their lotion cleanser and studio fix. Both not bad at all and little goes a long way. They are also fragrance free, thats a bonus too. But i feel like they are more suitable for dryish skin. |

The only thing I've tried was their Green Gel Cleanser, I don't remember too much since I tried it years ago but I didn't like it to repurchase, I think after a while it dried out my skin. I've sampled their moisturizers too and didn't like them. |

I have the Strobe Cream which I love, but I would class this as a combination of skincare and make-up.
The great thing about MAC is that they will give you samples of anything you are interested in before you perchase. |

I tried the green gel cleanser and I think the studio fix. I didn't buy again because it was drying and not very effective. Not that I have an awesome cleaner or moisturizer now, I just didn't think it was that great. |

I have tried the Green Gel Cleanser and it was ok....very drying...I thought. But is does remove makeup pretty well. I didnt repurchase as I thought it was a lot like Cetephil foaming cleanser. I also used the studio fx moisturizer and it was way too much for my skin. Again...I like many cheaper moisturizers much better. I have been tempted by their cleansing oil but it has been sold out each time I have gone. My over all opinion is that it is just ok. I did notice that they changed their line and maybe that means they changed their formulas too. Let me know your thoughts if you do purchase. |

Only thing I've used from MAC is the Cleanse Off Oil which is very good as far as cleansing oils go. |

Mac skincare should not be so bad because they are made by Estee Lauder. So it sould be a nice quality. I bought the microdermabrasion polish. I really like it. The grains are small and smooth. Its exactly the same fealling of a salon treatment. No fragrance. Simple container. Thats good for me. |

MAC completely revamped its skincare (new packaging/new products were released on Dec. 26), so be sure to check out the web site or go to a counter (Paula's book will be somewhat obsolete).
I can tell you that the moisturizer with SPF has better protection now (though it's still minimal) and the new packaging is quite nice! The cleansing oil is back but I'm not sure the green gel survived.
These are basic products, so if you don't have high treatment expectations, you might find a few things you like. |

Thanks for everyone's responses.
Seems like most people don't have high expectations of MAC's products. I am looking for products that are fragrance free and contain as little irritating ingredients as possible. At the same time, the usual Cetaphil and Dove recs don't seem to do the job of cleaning makeup.
Thanks again and keep the responses coming.

I myself never tried MAC skincare line but I am interested to try one.
MAC Fast Response Eye Cream contains lots of silicone, silicone, and silicone. It's more like a make up base though.
Talk about other MAC skincare, I think MAC Moisture Feed/Eye and MAC Moisture Feed/Skin are quite interesting. They should be good for normal to dry skin. They contain lots of antioxidants. Also, I just saw their new package. Pretty cool. It makes me want to try them even more.

not to sound like a snob, but i think estee lauder is one of the worst dept store skin care lines. saying that, i wouldn't use any MAC skin care products. |

I can't stand Estee Lauder skincare products either. Their Tom Ford LE makeup on the other hand... |

I haven't tried any of MAC skincare..I guess it is primarily because I recognize them as a colour line..they don't seem to market their skincare very often (or did I miss a memo?)...I will say that their skin cleansing oil is fantastic - well-priced, a little goes a long way and it takes off anything - I tried their strobe cream once ( my sis had it) and my 42 year old skin didn't like it much...I'd try their skincare if it was given to me, but I would never buy it.

I know this has been posted before, but I think this is an updated list. And just for fun, here's the MAC internet ad featuring Sandra Bernhard which was pulled in August along with a public apology from EL.

Hi Pudoodles!
I love MAC Cleansing Oil too. I bought a bottle of the Dermalogica one and can't wait until it's gone so I can go back to MAC!

Seems like MAC's cleanse off oil is quite popular. Yay! I might just have to give it a try.
Anyone who has used MAC skincare in the past notice a difference in their formulas? They revamped their skincare and I wonder if the glowing reviews at MUA will change now that the formulas have changed.

another praise for MAC cleanse off oil! I also use their pro eye makeup remover, which works quite well for eye makeup--but NOT the water-proof mascara... |
