Hi,
I am using RetinA and taking these antioxidants which seem to have pretty much/more or less gotten rid of any zits I had on my face (mostly inflamation type). However, I've noticed that after starting to take the antioxidants (Rainbow Light total antioxidants) 3 weeks into it now (1 tablet per day), I am having blackheads on the side of my nose (i don't think I've ever had this before). also my nose seems to be the only area that is getting inflamed now. This might be I think because I don't apply RetinA to my nose (cause I am not supposed to, or can I?). so, 1st of all, how do I treat this blackhead/outbreaks on my nose? Like I read it's like strawberry seeds on at least one side.
=i've been trying to use the clearisil 3 in 1 foam, but it doesn't seem to get rid of any of the blackheads or "clear them out".=i have a slightly oily skin around my nose, but fairly smooth and dry everywhere else.
2nd what's the deal with the retinA/antioxidant combination (can i apply it on my nose for the retina), and why is my nose now affected?
=I just moved to germany, before i was in california and i thought i had everything in control, but these last two months in a new climate have just been rough...also allergies (but they are now going away)
This all really sucks please help. |

Hi Aaron,
I've never used RetinA but with my (very) limited knowledge let me try to answer some of your questions. First, the fact that you are getting blackheads may be unrelated to you starting to take antioxidants. It's more likely to be the change in climate that your skin has just experienced. Second, I believe that you can actually apply RetinA to your nose. Many people do - particularily if they have blackheads. BUT you need to be very careful not to apply it to the groove where the base of your nose connects with your cheeks (you also need to make sure that you keep it well away from the eyes as well - but I'm sure you already know that ). The reason for avoiding the nose grooves is that (a) that area is easily irritated, and (b) you are highly likely to get peeling and general discomfort associated with dryness there. Perhaps before starting that, you should ask the opinion of a derm though?
If you don't want to apply RetinA to your nose, there are other products you can try. Decleor Essential Balm (all natural) in combination with Dermalogica Microfoliant has done wonders for me. As has the Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream (it's great at keeping blackheads at bay! - at least in my experience anyway).
Hope that helps somewhat,
Mabsy. |
