I need some skin care recommendations please! My face feels like it's on fire, thanks to the wrong products!
I'm 40 year old fair complected, brown eyes, blonde hair, with dry skin and sensitive cheeks that are prone to fragile and broken/inflammed capallaires.
Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm interested in soothing skincare. |

I've been using Dr. H skin care for dry/sensitive skin. It may be too rich for me. Thanks so much for your suggestions! |

Out of desperation I bought some Taro gel to put on my arms and face.
The tube did say it is the same ph as your body and I had a terrible allergic reaction all over my arms and was desperate for the thing with the least ingredients.
-even Clinique stuff was bothering me, same for benadryl cream.
I had some bad reactions to some medications, so that just made everything I put on my skin terrible.
Taro gel is not really meant for your face or arms, but you can buy it at Well.ca for $5
I am also really badly reactive to the glue in bandaids and they make my skin so itchy and red, no matter what brand or kind I buy and Taro gel is the only thing that does not make my skin worse after having to use any bandaids on my skin. |

It sounds like you have Roseacea. |

Your skin sounds very similar to mine. It isn't Rosacea but very reactive and feeling like it is on fire is the perfect way to describe it.
First try to get your skin to settle down. I have a couple of threads here - one is about Skin Barrier Repair. If you read about a damaged skin barrier you could see if that sounds like what you are experiencing. I have been posting some things that have worked for me so far but I am still experimenting too. The only thing that helped put out the fire was frequent cold compresses and waiting it out. Nothing I could put on my skin would help when it felt like a really bad sunburn. Now I am trying to anticipate and put out the fires before they get bad. And rebuild my skin so it is less reactive. I am happy to answers any questions if I can. It is tough. I tried rosacea products and would react to those or they didn't moisturize enough - or both. |

i have a friend who all of a sudden couldn't wear make up ..her face would swell up like it was on fire.and she doesn't wear anything or use anything on her face any more.
I would start with trial and error..maybe go to Whole Body and see if there is an all natural hypoallergenic line there Get samples if you can, because you just don't know what is going to work.
My suggestion is try a small area with virgin coconut oil i find it calms my skin down when I itch,, i use it for moisturizer on my face and all over my body ... oil pulling.. everything. I even give it to my dogs. |

Have you tried any PCA moisturizers? Not moisturizing enough for me at night (I'm quite a bit older) at this time of year but might be worth checking out. I've used the Collagen Hydrator and the Silk Coat Balm without a problem.
If you are in the US, I found a place where I could buy samples. They had quite a few to choose from. Let me know if you need that info.
Avene products might be an option for you. The ones I tried weren't hydrating enough for me but prices are great if these work for you.
Pevonia has a few that might work. I tried the Rosacea line and the smell was too strong but maybe it was using both the moisturizer and the lotion. Then I tried the sensitive line but that didn't seem as hydrating. No warmth from either line.
For daytime, I am very happy with Nuxe Creme de Prodigeise night cream. I love the smell and how soft my skin feels. My foundation goes on great over this. I'm trying to find a night routine that is gentle, hydrating and has some anti-aging potential. That is a bit more of a challenge but I'm working on that and have some that might work.
I hope some of this info helps. |
