Hi

I'm looking for a nice non scented, non flavoured, moisturising nude lipstick that isn't too beige. My favourite Molton Brown Nearly Nude has been discontinued, gasp!

Can anyone recommend one?

Thanks in advance.

I LOVE Laura Mercier Discretion.

I never used to wear lipstick until I discovered this color. It was voted the best nude by Allure, and I believe them!

Love it...got it at sephora.com

I have been long-obsessed with Julie Hewitt's kiki--it is sheer and moisturizing, not matte. I believe there is a photo of it somewhere on the JH review thread, as well as different photos of my wearing it, if you are interested!

Sarahb what is your skintone like??

I'm a darker olive and I love:

Lancome actually has several really nice nude colors in their Juicy Rouge line, which is unflavored and very moisturizing. Praline and Apricot Fizz are both very nice, however, my favorite is Caramel which is a slightly darker nude. Here's a pic of me wearing it:

It's just the slightest bit darker IRL, but it's definitely my favorite nude. Also for some reason my lips look much plumper when I wear Caramel--- no idea why, but I love it!^-^

My skintone is fair with brown hair, hence not wanting a beige colour as it doesn't suit me.

Thanks

hi,

when you say "nude," then, what do you mean?

some of the users on this forum have been raving about Julie Hewitt's "nude noir," which is supposed to be a very well-balanced nude, not beigey at all. The others I recommended are also not in the slightest "beige"--not a flattering color for most every skin tone!

also, pout has a couple of nice nudes, if you go and test them out... I'd go to a dept store if I were you and test some colors, since everyone is so different, and lipstick is highly subjective.

Lastly, living nature has a gorgeous color called "rain" that has a bit of a mauve undertone to it, but it is a nice neutral color.

Thanks for the recommendations and yes I have tried sampling them, loads of them in fact, never been able to actually find one that really suited me apart from the Molton Brown one which they've now stopped. Sad

You've given me a few ideas so will be testing those out, thanks everyone.

hmmm. i seem to remember the molton brown was really a true "nude" but it was very moisturizing and did not at all go on "matte," meaning it added to rather than covered up your lip color. Is that right? I used to sell it a long time ago at a boutique I worked in...

I would really try out "kiki" and "biba" by JH if I were you... Sheer nudes, both of them, but kiki has a bit more mauve in it.

Perhaps you can try Paul & Joe's lipsticks? Their colors are usually quite nude/natural Smile

I've found that it's easier for me to wear a nude lipstick if I use a slightly darker pencil or tint underneath to give it some depth.

A lot of people say laura mercier discretion, but on me it looks awful. It comes out a dark brown color. I often wondered if I have picked the right "discretion" and if there are two different colors in that line. Its just a horrible, dark, murky, muddy color on me!! Goes to show how different we are and no one nude is the same on everyone!! My search for my "NUDE" color goes on!! Rolling Eyes
