I am thinking of buying the pressed MAC Blot Powder for both touch ups and use on its own.
Anyone tried this?
Does it really work for oily skin or does it dry skin out?
Also does it make skin look 'cakey'? |

I used it for about a year - I have very oily skin and it did work at "blotting" the oil but clogged my pores and did look cakey. I much prefer silk dust (either CareKates or Jurlique) for touchups as it takes away the oily sheen without looking like you've put another layer of product on your face. |

I have used it. I get an oily t-zone and mainly use it in the summer. It works ok and I did not get any clogged pores...it looks very white and powdery at first then becomes transparent. I like the linen papers better. |

I have used it. It works well, but the colors are all wrong for my skintone.
Lately I've been using Makeup Forever Super Mate Loose in the AM and using blotting papers throughout the day. MAFE color that I use is No 14, which is a yellow-based sesame color. I have light-medium skin with yellow undertones (I'm half Japanese). |

I completely agree except it didn't do that well blotting the oil. I always feel you should blot with blotting paper first before you use ANY powder as adding powder seems to sort of sandwich your oil back into your skin. I don't even NEED touch ups using CareKate's silk dust in the mornings now. But I do keep Dr.H's pressed powder in my purse in case - I like it MUCH better than MAC Blot and it's much more natural too. |

I got it in my purse right now in medium. I just can wait to finish it. Its cakey, powdery and the color choice is really basic. I will go back to my Estee Lauder double matte pressed powder in light-medium. Its way better. |

I didn't like it either, the best color match was a littl too dark and it looked cakey when i put it on.
You actually have to blot the oil off with a tissue first and then use the blot powder to get a less cakey look.
Not really worth it.

Take a look at this!
I am not sure if you know but there is a huge difference in the ingredients in the loose blot and the pressed blot. I know you are looking at the pressed blot but I thought this was quite interesting.
Pressed Blot Powder:
Dimethicone
Silica
Kaolin
Water (Aqua Purificata)
Hydrolyzed Soy Protein
Methicone
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Acid)
Methyl Paraben
Propyl Paraben
Phenoxyethanol
May Contain
Mica
Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)
Loose Blot Powder
Talc
Silica
Polyethylene
HDI/Trimethylol
Hexyllactone Crosspolymer
Isostearyl Palmitate
Hodeum Vulgare (Barley) Extract
Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Extract
Tocopheryl Acetate
Ascorbyl Palmitate
Squalane
Caprylyl Glycol
Hexylene Glycol
Hydrolyzed Soy Protein
Water (Aqua Purificata) Purified
Coconut Acid
Phenoxyethanol
May Contain (+/-)
Mica
Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)
Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499
Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163)
Blue Lake (CI 42090)
Carmine (CI 75470)
Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI 77289)
Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77288)
Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510)
Manganese Violet (CI 77742)
Red 6 (CI 15850)
Red 7 (CI 15850)
Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140)
Ultramarines (CI 77007)
I tend to favor the pressed one as I love the way it looks and it seems not as heavy as the loose blot, I guess it's because it doesn't have talc in it. I honestly quite like it! Each to their own I guess! |

I have used mac blot and it works well, especially for summer. It gives a very nice matte finish. I have used the pressed version, and will always have this powder in my arsenal.
But it is a little pore clogging, and so I want to try to the Jurlique powder for everyday use, and use the mac only for occasional use. |

I have used MAC blot pressed blot powder for atleast 8 years now and still love it. I use it as a setting powder more then anything else. I put on moisturizer, concealer, and then the blot powder. It really hides my pores and creates a matte finish. When I do feel some oil peeking through halfway through the day, I use blotting sheets. I don't think using a sponge over oily skin is sanitary.
Hope I could help. |

I've used it but none of the shades match my skin. Does a fairly good job at absorbing oil. |

I currently use the pressed blot powder to help set my make-up. I use the medium, even though I am quite fair.
I find that it helps to keep my make-up in place (I love to put it over top of my concelear to prevent it from sliding), and I stay nice and matte (although that isn't really a problem for me). Has not clogged my pores. I find that it does not provide any real coverage, and is not really noticible.
Pretty basic for the price, but I have no complaints! |

I LOVE it. I use the ppressed form, never looks cakey on me even afer a couple of layers during the day..... provides no coverage but just polishes the look and keeps me matt for hours. The colors run on the lighter side....so I was very happy when they brought out medium-dark shade for my NC30 skin. |
