OMG, my husband can make me laugh so hard sometimes...
We were just watching a repeat of today's Larry King Live and they had some American Idol rejects / finalists on it. Now I have never actually SEEN an episode of American Idol (since we dont have FOX cable through the operator serviing my ward of Tokyo), but of course I KNOW the program and what it is about from what I have seen on news programs etc. And I always enjoy watching snippets about the rejects (even the few snippets of some of the Australian rejects too)
So, anyway, Larry brings the reject Sarah Goldberg (did I get that name right?) and showed her bizzare "audition" and how she reacted to it.. then while she was going on and on about how "they weren't very nice to me" (and I was thinking "well, why would they be when you were obviously wasting their time..", hubby turns to me and says
"she shouldn't be auditioning for American Idol..... American Idiot is more like it."
I just sat there stunned..... |

I wish that I would have caught that Larry King show. I enjoy the auditions much more than the actual competition, until they get down to the last 5 or six competitors.
And you husband got it right on! Too funny! |

OMG - was she the one who basically said that she knew she couldn't sing, but INSISTED that the judges could teach her and she could still be the American Idol...and then went postal when she was rejected? That might have been the funniest audition ever. |

yes, YES! that was the one!! I just sat there stunned and even when she was talking to Larry I was thinking, "sweetie, you need to give up whatever you are on..."
I think hubby is onto something... what a great reality TV series .. just imagine! American Idiot.. Australian Idiot... think of all the class acts they could have! Kinda makes me think back to the days of "Hey Hey it's Saturday" in Australia and the weekly Red Faces competition.. oh I LOVED that show!! |

I thought the funniest part was that she seemed really, really sincere and just completely DID NOT get why they couldn't "mold her" into the next American Idol, even though she admitted she had zero talent.
I have friends who insist that the people who are truly awful singers audition just to be on tv and could never really think that they could be the American Idol. But I had a friend in high school who I know would have auditioned - she had a truly terrible voice (very high pitched and nasally), but was also tone deaf and thought she was a great singer.
I do like the American Idiot idea - in fact, if you caught any of "America's Got Talent," it seems like that could have been renamed. |

I just watched the episode on YouTube and she really does have a problem. She was just too much of an angry person for me to even feel sorry for her. She needs to go to a timber mill so they can extract the chip of her shoulder. |
