Hello! I am planning to open up my own Massage Therapy Spa in New Mexico and I need to get some advise on massage oils. I need massage oils that are all natural, great for all skin types, and theraputic. Will need oils that are great for the body and also for the face. I do an awesome Anti-Cellulete Massage and a Face Lift and Toning Massage that is just awesome and I need oils that will enhance my therapyies. I am searching for aromatherpay blends as well. I have PM'd CareKate to see if she has any good ideas too. |

Shoot,
There was someone on here that was like an aromatherapist or something of that nature and knew all about her oils and EO's. Let me see if I can find the old thread. |

The DIY Recipes sticky thread has all kinds of referece info (it's in the DIY section of the forum), but here's a link to info about the characteristics of different carrier oils: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=5981&start=419
I also just emailed you a "quick guide" that tells the therapeutic uses of various essential oils. If you decide on the kind of blends you want, I'd be happy to create them for you. |

The Weleda Spa line of massage oil is awesome and only available to Spas in the US. Had the opportunity to try them in Germany and they are great. |

Hey Diva,
I think one of the best massage oils for the body is fractionated Coconut oil. It is great to work with, excellent for the skin and doesn't stain sheets. I know a lot of spas use Grapeseed oil, but it goes rancid quickly and makes a mess of your linens. There are also some manufacturers out there that make some great non-staining blends specifically for spas and therapists, but you'll have to read the labels carefully as many of them contain preservatives and synthetics which your therapists and clients may be sensitive to. You can also use blends for various skin types for example, a blend of Rosehip Oil and Jojoba or Calendula is great for someone with sensitive, dry or irritated skin, or maybe a nice blend of Almond and Coconut for a really moisturizing treatment, etc etc. You can also develop some exotic treatments and use oils like Babbasu or butters like Cocoa butter etc.
For the face, you should work with what is best for the client. Coconut oil is too heavy for most so I would recommend oils like Rosehip, Evening Primrose, Pomegranate, Apricot, Camellia etc.
As for essential oil blends, you really need to know your clients medical history so you can personalize a blend to suit their needs whether physical, mental or emotional. There are lots of synergies out there but I tend to be a purist as I like to mix my own EOs according to the client's condition. The best thing to do if you really want to work with Essential Oils is to take a course on Aromatherapy. There are a lot of great courses in New Mexico as well as neighbouring Arizona that will ensure you are treating your clients safely and effectively. And make sure to get lots of books on Aromatherapy as well to help you learn all you can. There is a wealth of great information out there. For a list of books do a search on EDS as I once posted a list of books I would recommend.
Hope that helps. And good luck with your venture! |

Seconding the Weleda recommendation. I use their Birch anti-cellulite oil and their Arnica massage oil all the time and LOVE the scent and texture of both. |

Yes, I think the have some massage oil in their baby line (calendula). I haven't tried their cellulite oil. The wildrose body oil is wonderful, and I can even use it on the face. Another natural brans with a lot of nice body and massage oils is Farfalla, but I don't know if their products are available in the US. |

Im using anti cellulite oil at the moment but its to early to say if it really works.Im not sure about the sensitive skin though, mine is very dry and the oil definitely moisturises it, but my cellulite is still quite visible im afraid You have to try it for yourself as it might work for you depending on the type of cellulite you have. Im sure that in combination with a good diet, exercice and stuff the oil + massaging will be beneficial for the overall appearance of my cellulite. Anyway that what i hope for |
