I'm going to spend a mini-vacation with DH in Montreal at the end of February (of course got him some hockey tickets). Can anyone recommend some good spots to check out beauty loot? |

I was in Montreal last year for a few days. It's such a beautiful city; be sure to visit old Montreal.
The shopping is fantastic! Wait until you see the underground shopping centers -- they are so cool! I don't recall any specific beauty type shops, but if you like Terax, it's in all the salons and really cheap (especially if you find it on sale).
The food is amazing and you'll really notice what a multi-cultural city it is. I had a wonderful time there and would love to go back. |

I agree with Marina - Holt's for sure. And they renovated last summer/fall, so should be nice (haven't been back to see yet.)
Holt's is at Mountain and Sherbrooke. If you want to visit a Pro Mac store, walk down Mountain to Ogilvy's on St. Catherine St. Pro Mac stores sell things you can't find in regular Mac stores -- like the empty palettes for e/s and e/s for the palettes that are magnetic to go into the palettes. Cheaper than their regular e/s since there is no plastic casing (and because you won't have anything to bring back for their Back2Mac program). Of course you can get regular Mac stuff there too.
And there are most of the usual beauty names there like Clarins and Lancome. Also used to carry B.Kamins and Carita - not sure now.
You might want to check out Les Ailes de la Mode at St. Catherine + University Sts. just for the experience. There are beauty counters spread out on the first floor of the mall before you get to the entrance of the store.
And I still like The Bay -- just a blook east of Les Ailes. They have Mac, Benefit, Gatineau, Juvena, and some other product lines I haven't seen elsewhere in Montreal.
Have fun! |
