I think this is my HG Exclamation Exclamation I bought this from frenchcosmeticsforless.com for US $23 for a 40ml tube. I took about 2 1/2 wks to get. It is water resistant w/ a very, very light fragrance. The texture is thin, fluid, and spreadable.

I've used it for 1 1/2 wks this winter. It has not clogged my pores, nor does it make me shiny. It gives me what I would term a dewy glow, which is what I want. It is not greasy at all - sinks in beautifully. I suppose the true test will be this summer, but at least for winter this gives a lovely, soft finish. Even at the end of the day my make up stays put w/ very minimal shine.

Ingredients: water(aqua), dicapryly carbonate, octocrylene, methylene bisbenzotriazolyl, tetramethylbutylphenol, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, cyclomethicone, alcohol denat, C20-22 alkyl phosphate, bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol, methoxyphenyl triazine, PTFE, C20-22 alcohols, tocopheryl acetate, ectoin, mannitol, xylitol, rhamnose, fructooligosaccharides, laminaria ochroleuca extract, decyl glucoside, xanthan gum, ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/vp copolymer, disodium edta, sodium hydroxide, propylene glycol, citric acid, caprylic/capric triglyceride, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, propylparaben, ethylparaben. (Hope I spelled everything correctly - to me a lot of it is "blah blah blah blah" Confused )

Hi tsjmom - I love this too!!! If you want dewiness, I think you'll find it can also work for you in summer. You may just need a little powder as I do, on my t-zone. But I also use a light dusting of Jane Iredale Pressed Base which is a MMU that's supposed to be better for oilier skin. I have normal skin but it's oilier in summer. Anyway, the MAX Fluide is definitely less oily than the Avene Emulsion SPF50+ I used up until I heard about Bioderma (thanks Molly). But it's still oilier than many SS. I don't care -- like I said, I can offset the oiliness and anyway, I want better photo-protection than just about any and all matte SS provide.

I like this, but since it's so darn watery I actually contemplated it's sun protection and effectiveness. Right now I'm using the Bioderma Max Creme and like it. I may go back to the fluide in the summer though. What I did absolutely love was the 'glow' it gave me.

Hi ariesxtreme - I love the Creme too -- I keep it and the Fluide on hand at all times and use them according to my skin's condition. The Creme is even less oily than the Avene Emulsion!

I agree m.april that the great UVA UVB protection is worth a little powder Smile

Have any of you ladies used the fluide under liquid foundation? I am super pale but haven't ever worn sunscreen on a regular basis (been using the avoidance tactic). But I have had a few TCA peels and use acids pretty frequently now and don't think I can get away much longer without using SS. It is just so darn scary taking that first step!
Anywho..thanks for the review Smile

It looks as though it also comes 'tinted', has anyone tried that?

Hi Sundew - While I don't use liquid foundation, I've used creamy concealer over Bioderma without any problems. I'm not sure if they're still offering them, but before I bought the full-sized Biodermas from www.skincarecentral.biz, I tried samples first.

Sorry Sundew -- I just checked and that link I provided doesn't work because of the comma at the end. Anyway, after checking the site I found out they don't offer sample sizes of the MAX Fluide and Creme products I use. They only seem to offer samples of the tinted version of the Creme as well as a Bioderma Spray product.

You may want to email them though. Maybe they could help you out.

Thanks M.April. Smile Maybe I'll try a sample of the AKN spray even though I like the higher protection offered by the max fluide and cream.

Just noticed on the frenchcosmeticsforless.com website that they also have one called Bioderma Photoderm Max SPF50 Lotion(Milk) for $27.95/100ml from the descriptions I can't really tell why that one costs less per ml.

Sundew,

The AKN spray is REALLY watery. This is the most liquidy ss that I've used. I do like it and if you're oily I'd be a little careful. I used to put a lot on my face because it was so watery and thought, can this be enough protection?

It's light, white in color and goes on nicely. Thumbs up on all the Bioderma ss's for me.

Just in case any of you are interested, here's the link to Kathleen's review of the Bioderma sunscreens. Kathleen is the owner of the website noted in m.april's post above.

For me, mid-summer (Asia) using acids regularly the answer was it was not enough - I burnt my face using the sample.

My experience is that the Biod AKN spray is very nice and provides good protection.

My problem with it is that, on me, it's not water resistant. With my oily skin, it's a matter of hours before the sunscreen runs into my eyes (yeouch!).

So I reserve it for body use and use my Japanese sunscreens (Sofina Lucent) and a hat for my face.

I use the ANK apray.
I have quite dry skin and so have to put some squalane underneath.
I then use a light dusting of Clarins powder over the top.

I always wear a hat so I haven't reeally tested it's efficiency.
I am looking at the thicker ones that Bioderma do.

Forgot to ask, can you use Bioderma SS with mineral makeup?
Also, I still haven't figured out the difference between the Fluide(40ml, $22.95) and the Lotion/milk (100ml, $27.95) hmm

(sizes and prices are from frenchcosmeticsforless.com)

Does anyone get any stinging with this, especially if you use prescription or OTC retinol creams each night?

Sundew - the difference is that the Max Fluide is higher spf and ppd

I use Alima w/ it and no problems.

And no stinging Smile This is a HG for me b/c of texture and protection.

From previous discussions, alas no! Can't remember the exact details. I think it uses avobenzone alongside the Tinosorb and MMU degrades that.

It's my understanding that Tinosorb stabilizes avobenzone, thus Bioderma's fine to use with MMU. I'm not 100% positive but I think I dug into this a few months ago and this is what I came up with.

Hi again Sundew - Maybe you'll find this link enlightening:

http://www.bioone.org/perlserv/?request=get-abstract&issn=0031-8655&volume=074&issue=03&page=0401

Also, I've read that since a lot of MMU consists of coated particles, the chance of avobenzone destabilizing is even less, aside from Tinosorb's stabilizing effect.
