you might want to get your post moved over to the DIY thread, as that is where all our home-grown chemists attend to their cauldrons Laughing

but I can tell you what is in the Jason's pre-shave oil (which my DH loves)

kukui nut oil, almond oil, vegetable oil esthers, sunflower oil, squalane (vege), Babassu oil, aloe vera oil, avocado oil, meadowfoam oil, vitamin E, Lime Oil, Clove oil, rosemary oil, eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, menthol.

What makes shaving painful is razor drag, not necessarily the coarseness of the hair. My leg hair is very heavy/coarse and I used to have all kinds of problems with razor irritation until I discovered the wonders of using a shaving OIL rather than a gel or cream. If you’ve got your heart set on the foam/gel, then you can apply a shave oil UNDER the gel/cream.

Most commercially bought shaving gels/foams contain ingredients that actually cause build-up on the blades of the razor which reduces their ability to glide smoothly over the skin.

You can find a recipe here for a shave oil, or you can use the Jason’s ingredient list that Tiger_tim provided below as a guide to create your own blend, but you’ve really got to try a shave oil to truly appreciate it. You’ll never get a closer, smoother, less irritating shave in your life! http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=5981&start=187

My other suggestion to make shaving less of a painful chore is to invest in the Gilette Fusion razor. The 5-blades really DO make a difference in getting a closer, irritation-free shave. I know what you’re thinking – I thought it was all hype, too, until I tried it for myself! I think men AND women should own their own Fusions (if you don’t you and your man will end up fighting over it!!).
