Here are the two formulations:

GOW Majik C Serum:

GoW Majik C Serum is a superior blend of ingredients
with stabilized L-ascorbic acid as the leading
antioxidant. Listed below are the attributes
of each ingredient.

Ingredients:

cistus hydrosol [tightening/anti-aging]
seamollient [moisturizing/emollient]
botanical extract blend**
**autumn olive berry [lycopene]
**blue lotus [antioxidant/free radical scavenger]
**orgotein [neutralizes free radicals]
L-ascorbic acid [15%/superior antioxidant]
grain alcohol [natural preservative]
vitamin E acetate [moisturizing/soothing]
ferulic acid [stabilizer/antioxidant/anti-inflammatory]

Candessence CE Ferulic:
Vitamin C, E & Ferulic Acid

ingredients:
Aloe Vera Juice, Distilled Water, Marine Extract, Ascorbic Acid, Tocopherol, Ferulic Acid, Hyaluronic Acid, Optiphen

An excellent antioxidant combination. Studies show significantly better results than any one antioxidant alone. Helps to better prevent premature signs of aging, while stimulating collagen production to diminish the appearance of photodamage.

L-Ascorbic Acid •Neutralizes free radicals, provides photoprotection, stimulates collagen synthesis
Alpha Tocopherol •Neutralizes free radicals, provides photoprotection, and aids in the healing process
Ferulic Acid •Neutralizes free radicals, provides photoprotection, and provides anti-inflammatory effects.

I have no idea which one to buy! I currently use Skinceuticals, but am looking for something a bit more natural-based. I am sure both of these are excellent, I would just like to know if anyone has preferences for one in particular, and why--thanks in advance!

I haven't used Candessence CE Ferulic, but I have used GOW's Majik C Serum. I can tell you that GOW's is a very nice product. I had amazing results with it. It evened out my skin instantly upon application. I've been trying out another C serum, but when it's done, I am going to reorder the Majik C Serum from GOW again.

I just ordered candy's, I have a hard time with alcohol in products, especially if I am using them every day. Just a thought. You may be able to tolerate it - I like that Candy's has no alcohol.

i've not tried GOW though i've heard really good things about her products in general.... Candy's i have tried and like a lot -- but it's her Triple C that's really spectacular!

Ditto that. I've heard only good things about Markey's products, and my guess is that her C serum is not only as good as, but better than Skinceuticals at a fraction of the price.

But, my own opinion is that Candy's Triple C is truly a breakthru product. It's truly unique. I find it amazing that one of the major players hasn't come up with a formula that utilizes these 3 most effective kinds of topical Vitamin C, especially since there are studies indicating the fact they tend to have a symbiotic effect on each other. It's a truly brilliant innovation by Candy. I've recommended to everyone I know (or at least everyone I like Cool )without reservation.

katee and la vie,

i think i will go for candy's--how can i argue with either of you??? Also, i am not too keen on putting alcohol on my face either... The problem is, it is $$$! But it is evidently worth it... but ... is there any reason to ditch the ferulic acid after it has worked so well for me in the past?

since i need to pay you back for all the $$$ i spent on JH lippies, i'm so pleased you asked that question.... i believe katee is using her Triple C over ISC Super Serum and i'm actually using it over ISC Pro-Heal (what can i say? there was something in this that my skin missed when i stopped). so, i see absolutely no reason why you can't layer her two C's if your skin loves the ferulic acid as well (you obviously use less so it's not like you're wasting product). both her C's (hell, all of her products!) are gorgeously light and sink in immediately. layering is no problem. either way, it's cheaper than Skinceuticals.

I agree with la vie en rose...absolutely no reason you can't layer the C-E-Ferulic and the Triple C. I use them both together and absolutely love 'em!

avalange--if the alcohol is a problem for you, you can definitely email Markey and ask her to formulate her C serum minus the alcohol. She is very accommodating and a great seller.

I have been recently addicted to GoW products and Markey, and I have to say I love everything I have tried so far.

Do you think either one of these serums will work on skin that usually can't tolerate vit. c. For some reason I get orange peel like bumpys. I have tried skinceuticals c+e ferulic, jansen becket, is clinical and psf 12 and 20 percent. I miss vit. c and have switched to cps and ifeelpretty antioxidant mist, but I would really like to start using vit.c with these products. I would like to start using the c at night, and the cps in morning with the antioxidant mist. Even thought the c's gave me bumpy skin, I still noticed the overall tone looked better, but I can't remember with which one, or if it mattered Confused

i think your best bet would be to send an e to both and ask.... i'm sure they've both dealt with C sensitive individuals and could probably make a less potent one for you get used to and gradually ramp up. or, you could order samples of the current strengths and just dilute them with an HA serum. this is what i needed to do for the longest while to adjust to Pro-Heal at first and what i *still* do when my skin is being cranky.

Thanks.

razinkane,

i also don't use c sera every day; since i've read several places that c stays on your skin for more than 24 hours, i think it is safe to say that you don't need to apply it every day--i think every other day is fine. perhaps starting with a lower concentration and applying every other day will help!

since i've been doing this, my skin seems smoother and less reactive, and it 'loves' the c when i apply it...

avalange--i had the same question C serum staying on the skin for 24 hrs, but i think it was Molly who said C should be applied everyday since the amount that remains on the skin does not stay stable enough to offer any benefits.

skincareaddicted,

that would make sense. it immediately occurred to me that it would be wiser to just use a lower concentration....! Eh? at any rate i like my skin better when i do not use it every day. i DO use sunscreen every day.

Hi avalange,

It would save me so much money if the C stayed 48 hrs as skinceuticals claims for its AOX C serum!

On my lazier days, i will skip the C and jump right to the SS. I even heard someeone mention using C serum at night also since it stimulates collagen production at night. i don't know how true that is, i haven't researched it myself, but i am using other serums at night and don't like layering them--it feels much too much, if you know what i mean.

But the current Majik C contains Propylene Glycol.

I was told that we'd be better to stay away from it, is it true?
