I am considering the Obagi line to help with dark spots, aging skin, dried out look, and generally older looking skin. Could someone could compare the Obagi line with the IS Clinical line for improving my skin. I have used the IS Super Serum and the Active Serum, which are excellent, but I am still having issues. I am just not sure about the Obagi product for me. Confused - Looking the the ultimate solution. Rolling Eyes

I absolutely HATED Obagi. For many, it is a virtual hg - it did very little for me.

IS Clinical is, in my opinion, the most effective line out there. At least, it certainly has been that way for me.

What did the IS Products do for your skin? Are you using the serums? Thanks for confirmation. The Obagi line was getting me nervous about using it but desperation will make you do desperate things.

My skin: oily, enlarged pores, blackheads, monthly(pms) breakouts, a few fine lines, and losing some firmness

IS Products I'm using: Cleansing Complex, Active and Super Serums

Results: skin 80-90% less oily, smaller pores, 60% less blackheads, face is very firm, skin is ALOT brighter, less dark brown spots, definite improvement in fine lines.

There's a looong thread somewhere on the boards that discusses IS and people have posted their results in it.

Yes I have looked at the threads in the past which started me on the IS product.

Lately my skin has been acting up again. But then I stopped using the active serum and the pigmentation is really returning. I guess I should return to using it?

Getting frustrated and hating to look in the mirror.

I have tried obagi and it didn't sit pretty on my face. I have a picture I wish I had the guts to show you guys of when I was on it. My face was bright red and I had a few scabs of when I itched my face my skin came off. It was so bad.
But, in obagis defense, and after reading other posts, I may have been using waaaaaaaaaaay too much retinol. I mean, the lady started me out at 1 percent. Maybe I should have gone lower. Anyway, I finally quit, I couldn't take it anymore. I have tried is clinical and I can't remember, but I think I liked the hydracool. For some reason I liked the feel of putting that on after the active, it felt soothing. I tried the active, and like it I guess, but I don't hardly ever use it anymore. I thought my skin was starting to show veins when I did. It may have been my imagination because I can't tell now.
Honestly, sometimes one uses so many things you just can't remember. This is one of those cases.
I do remember though, that it wasn't *bad*. I just wanted to move on I think.
edited to add (move on before I gave it efficient time to show me if it was going to do anything for me Confused )

I went through 2 rounds of Obagi and my already dry skin just got drier. I will tell you though that I had an age spot or freckle, I don't know which, under my left eye and the hydroquinone in the Obagi got rid of it. I know that I wouldn't use it again though. I don't know why Jan Marini doesn't get more credit, unless people really don't like it or haven't tried it. I love the stuff and that's why I carry the JM line in my office. I'm still thinking about the ISC line also. Or at least part of it.

Back to your question. If I were you, and these were the only 2 lines I was considering. I would opt for ISC. I think you would find the Obagi way too drying.

Thanks for the advice.

I'll continue to use the ISC products.

My question is still the brown spots that keep poping up. I have had some lazer treatments that removed them for a time but I'm not crazy about doing that again. Does ISC have a better product for the spots or should I just be patient and wait for them to fade.

Sometimes I use the Active Serum as a spot treatment on occasional breakouts.

I don't know about ISC but Jan Marini has one for the face and chest that I'm using now on my chest. I like it so far. EDS sells it and so do I.

BTW, in all fairness, a friend of mine uses Obagi and loves it but she has oily skin with occasional acne. Totally different skin than mine.

I've gotten samples of some of the products from ISC and the rep knows that I'm considering carrying the line, but so far, ISC is dropping the ball. I really don't know very much of the ins and outs of the products. I wish I did.

I hope I helped.

Patty

Yep,

I will check into the J Marini line as I was just looking into it and glad you confirmed another option for me.
