Last night I spot treated with copper peptides. I now have what appears to be chemical burns on my face where the copper peptides were. Does anyone have any recommendations for getting this to heal?

Did you use the CP's neat? I would suggest Emu or Neosporin gro healing.

Which CPs did you use and at what strength. Also did you use anything else with them or on your skin that day?

Ouch, that doesn't sound good Sad - what CP did you use?

If they skin isn't broken Emu Oil is good for soothing healing - but be warned it will slow the healing down if the skin has been broken. Aloe Vera Gel (pure) is soothing and will protect the skin from further moisture loss. I would keep things as simple as possible at the moment, leave off all your actives until your skin has calmed down.

If it is a burn antiseptics can intefere with healing, so personally I wouldn't apply antiseptic creams or anything similar.

guapagirl - I used super cop 2x. I have used it before and had absolutely no reaction at all. I have dabbed aloe vera on it about every hour and I'm also using CX 10 ointment I had left over that is designed to help heal after chemical peels and microdermabrasion.

I'm feeling that my reaction to copper peptides have more to do with the really strong but harsh preservatives- because they use formaldehyde releasing preservatives- than the peptides.

I too used Super COP and was burning for 2 hours. I unfortunately applied emu oil on top, which acted as a pusher of the product deeper into the skin. It did go away after some time. However, when I left work and ran to the train, the perspiration, opened my pores and the burning resumed 8 hours later!!!

I fortunately didn't have any bad reactions skin wise to the product.

I'm much more cautious. Part of the problem was when I applied the emu on top of the spot treat of the Super COP, so the emu effectively spread the super cop everywhere!

I find the Arbonne Intelligence line to be very good non-irritating and hydrating line for calming irritated skin down. I used that for a few days and restored my skin.

It took about 3 days for them to go away and about a week to get everything back to normal. I used alot of aloe vera and CX10 Ointment the first 3 days and then switched to straight emu for a few more days.

I think the biggest problem was that I wasn't as careful as I should have been.! Shock

A healing oil like emu or calendula will help heal this. Also, Vonstella noted Neosporin, which can assist with a strong burn. You can use emu to push it in, as noted (on top) or apply it before to form a barrier from the CPs.

SC2x is the strongest CP I know of and I only use for spot treating when I EXPECT to fully aggravate my scars. I use it (along with TCA acid as the first pass) until my scars scab up. I imagine anyone who uses it will get the very reaction you had. It takes a long time to work up to it, IMO. BTW, I don't think you had a bad reaction but an expected one (from the CP perspective). Smile Was this what you were trying to do?

Hope they've cleared by now, though. Let us know.

What is CX10 Ointment? And where do you purchase it?

scalawaggirl, I suspect that you are right that it should have been the expected thing to have happen. What I should have done was to dilute the CPS with water and work my way up. I was only spot treating lines.

skincarefreak, CX 10 Ointment can now be purchased over the internet. I bought mine at a plastic surgeons office. It is designed to be used after laser resurfacing, microdermabration. It helps to prevent scarring and help healing. It's thick, sticky and smells really bad. Definitely not something you would use unless you just had to.

The best for healing in my opinion is Eucerin, the original cream. I would avoid Neosporin because last week I heard from my dermatologist that 70% of the population has some type of allery to it, not sure if I believe the number could be that high but better safe than sorry.
