This silica stuff and boron nitrate. Are they bad for the skin? I see them in so many things, in so many mineral makeups etc.

I have combo/dry skin and usually only get blemishes in my t-zone area, usually my chin area that would go away in a few days or so. I never get full blown break outs.

Yet recently and I can't figure it out, my skin is going crazy and breaking out everywhere in bumps and clogged pores. I guess they are white heads, they're kind of whitish bumps, but they're not pimples. They are mostly all over my temples and the sides of my cheeks etc. They are so ugly, I will do anything to get rid of them, but I don't know what to do cause this has never happened to me before. And I don't know what caused them. Sad

The only thing that I've been using that's fairly new and I've only been using it lightly and occasionally, not daily, is Larenim's foundation powder. It contains silica in it to coat the titanium but they say it's not absorbed into the skin or anything. Does this ingredient clog pores or prevent the skin from breathing ok in anyway? Is it like covering your pores in plastic? I can't think what else it could be. I've used Everyday Minerals foundation before and this didn't happen. Could it be diet related at all? The only other thing I changed is from using grapeseed/orange berry oil to using hazelnut oil on my face. But that is light and supposed to be good for oily skin even. I need help fast! What should I do? I just put some salicylic acid on my face. Should I be using deep cleansing clays or anything? I'll try any good suggestions. Thanks.

I'm also allergic to silica. Maybe you can try Alima MMU. They don't contain silica.

For controlling my acne, I use ISC Active Serum, KissMyFaceGel, or diluted tea tree oil.

HTH!

Hope you get better soon!

Thank you. I never knew I might be allergic to silica but maybe that is what it is. I guess if I stop using that stuff and it goes away I will know.

I'm so impatient, how long does it take for a breakout like this to clear up? Thanks for reminding me about the Kiss My Face Gel. I've tried that before I loved it. It feels so refreshing and tingly, I'll pick some up again.

My pimples usually clear up within 1-2 weeks. I usually extract my pimples or blackheads first, and then apply the Kiss My Face Gel. I love that stuff!! Also, for clogged pores, you can also try the oil cleansing method.

Yeah, I've tried OCM before but I didn't stick with it cause it always left a film of oil residue on my skin now matter how many times I wiped with the washcloth. And then with all those people who say that it has made them breakout that kind of scares me too. Then I wonder if it is ok for the skin to even rub it with a washcloth? I might try it again though, I wonder how important the castor oil is or if you can use another oil instead. I have a question about the wash cloths though. Which is the best type to use for it and then what do you do with it when you are done with it? I only have bamboo/cotton ones and they're pretty soft but maybe there is something better. Can you use a microfiber cloth with OCM? Afterwards there seems to be so much oil on the cloth and it sometimes even gets stained with the makeup (they're kind of white). Yet since they are wet, can't just throw them in hamper all wet. Do you hang them to dry and then once they are dry throw them in the hamper to get washed?

Some people are allergic to caster oil, that's probably why they breakout. I just use really warm water to wash out the oils. It leaves my face really clean. If you don't like the OCM, maybe you can try a face scrub, or a facial cleanser? I'm waiting for my scrub, Epidermxll to come. I heard it's really good for controlling acne, and fading scars. I always wash my face with a cleanser after OCM.

Great, another thing to worry about reacting to. Does it only work with castor oil? I think I will try the OCM again. Thanks.
