OK, had this done at a training session. First, skin was cleansed with Stone Crop Gel Wash (face felt all tingly), then toned with Stone Crop Hydrating Mist. Next the AHA Fruit Pulp was applied and on top of that the Paprika Herbal Treatment- face felt hot and stingy for about 5 minutes or so and then warm for the rest of 5 minutes. In the meantime my arms and shoulders were massaged vigorously with a combo of Thai and Swedish massage. After the peel and paprika treatment were removed, stone crop mask was applied for 5 minutes (massaged on with tea) and then Apple Quince mask was applied for 5 minutes with tea soaked gauze to keep the mask moist. (Apparently all Eminence mask has to be kept moist to keep the products active).
After that Apricot cream was massaged in with a few drops of oil. Then removed with hot towel and then Stone Crop Hydrating mist, herbal eye contour, Grape ANtioxidant serum and Oil free sugar plum cream were applied.
My face was fire engine red throughout the evening and the better part of the next day. 2 days after the treatment I am flaking abit from the acid. Skin feels smooth but I don't know whether it's not at all different to an AHA peel. It's great for spoilingyourself but a pain if you want something quick with results.
Personally I prefer the Epicuren facials with the hot enzyme peels and double masks which make my skin super soft and smooth. But still do love some of the EMinence masks! |

Liza,
this sounds like torture! I have always hated the idea of a facial but this sounds like way too many things happening to the face at one time... I hope you are experiencing great results!
I love the gentleness and simplicity of epicuren products, too. i've never had an epicuren facial but I have had a swanky epicuren pedicure and it was wondrous.

It wasn't too bad but I don't think this is a facial for someone who wants to relax and look good immediately after the facial. There is alot of massaging while masks are on- arms, shoulders, back and head- but not always the relaxing kind.
I forgot to add that they also added Rose Menthol Treatment and Couperose-C serum before the Stone Crop Mask was applied to calm down the reddness. But you're supposed to feel the warmth/heat from the Paprika treatment for at least 30 minutes even after the removal and you do feel it! The Stone Crop did help in making the skin feel soothed, though it didn't look it. I don't know about the second application of masks as the Quince Apple tingled when it was applied but no harm was done.
So far, so good, I still have dry flaky patches from the AHA Fruit Pulp peel (which generally happens for me) and the reddness is pretty much gone. Skin over all feels very smooth but again I have the same result from an AHA peel. I do think the Eminence facial is different and fun in a way- very labour intensive though for the therapist and I thought the AHA pulp and some of the masks were abit difficult to remove as I still had pulp bits stuck on my face and neck when I got up... I was scared of being attacked by fruit bats when I was walking to my car afterwards!
Products smell heavenly and apparently are edible. One of the professional use only products from Eminence is pure cocoa powder which can be mixed with any of their masks- especially the Sour Cherry Mask, the rep said that you can pretty much use 70% cocoa powder from the supermarket if you wanted to although Eminence rep said their product is organic cocoa. In case anyone wants to try this at home! But I digress... |

well, they certainly sound interesting and different, to say the least!
very curious to hear your opinion on this treatment when you get over the flaking, especially since you are an insider to their products!

Even the title of this topic was enough to make me shudder. Yikes! |

Oh no!! I think I hope I haven't turned anyone off Eminence! What if Essential Day Spa bans me for putting people off from EMinence facials and products?!?
Well, a quick PR spin here, skin is looking good. The flakes are peeling off. There's couple of spots which my hubby tells me look abit pinky but I usually have that reaction with AHA peels. Overall skin feels soft and smooth. |

liza,
i have been reading most of the eminence threads recently, and most of the reactions have been rather negative overall... so it's not (just) you! it seems like everyone really wants to like this brand, but i'm super scared to use it just from all the negative feedback i've seen!

Well, I'm still lemming the Sour Cherry Mask, if that makes you feel any better. |

Same here. Not all the reviews of Eminence are bad..I'm lemming the Stone Crop Masque, for it's lightening effect. |

The Eminence range is a proffessional therapeutic based range. It is highly active and the results are amazing. Believe me.Not all skins can handle the stimulation so if you are sensitive or have had Retin A or strong peels dont use as the range is very active. Hope this helps. : |

LizaA. I think it is very helpful to have honest feedback about products and I think that is one of the nice features of this forum. I got a sample of their eye cream and doubt that I will use it as it is so fragrant and I wonder about the ingredients they use. |

I often wonder, with peels such as this, if the infalmation post peel does long term damage with only short term benefit. |

Wow. Sounds painful! My skin would never tolerate all that. I've had a few Hauschka facials, although they seem a little benign, they are very relaxing and not caustic. MY next thing to try is accupuncture facial rejuvenation. SERIOUSLY! |

I agree with the other comments, this facial does not sound appealing at all. |

I haven't tried the paprika treatment (which sounds dreadful, even to an Eminence lover such as myself!), but I have tried the Almond and Mineral Treatment, which is hot, and left my face RED for HOURS afterward. My husband was afraid! I prefer the not hot treatments! |

The paprika opens up the pores and stimulates blood circulation(hence the pink skin) allowing the AHA to exfoliate on a deeper level. Usually the redness has calmed down by the end of the facial, but if you are concerned about the after effects then you should not plan to try it on the day of a special event. As an Esthetician, I can honestly say that I have seen better results(personally and professionally) with this facial than with chemical peels or microdermabrasion. It doesnt burn like a chemical peel, it feels more like a self heating mask. Once you see your problematic skin dissappear, you wont be bothered by the warmth.... |

Is it because of the product or the facial? I received a sample of Stone Crop Whip Moisturizer with my last order from EDS and it delighted me. I was hoping to try more products from Eminence to see if I can use it for long term. |
