If I use Retin A 0.025% only once a week, do I still have to worry about increased sensitivity to the sun?

I don't think you're going to get any benefit at all from using Retin A once per week.

What do you mean when you ask about increased sensitivity to the sun? If you use any exfoliant, no matter how mild, it is imperative that you follow it with sunscreen.

Monica, I understand what you are asking.
Yes there is a chance that it might increase your sensitivity although using it only once a week would be very minimal. I use Retin-A .05% but I started with .025% and I found that if I forgot or became lax with sunscreen that my face felt hot and in some cases I got some freckling as a result. They are gone now but it is something to consider. Do use sunscreen. I am not sure what you are using your Retin-A for but mine was for preventative measures. I was 32 when I started and am now 35 I started it to prevent aging. So far I think that it is working well. Smile

Thanks Anna. I always use sun screen, but I also know that you are still supposed to avoid too much sun when on Retin A - even with sun block.

The reason that I plan to use it only once weekly is because of what I read in Molly's post about going the acid free route. A Dr.Huber warns about using actives too often and advises to use retinoids only 1 - 2 x weekly at the most http://www.302skincare.com/pro_discussion_topics.html
