Goodness, I went to the FDA website you provided, and read,
Quote: |
What are some possible side effects of Travatan? (This is NOT a complete list of side effects reported with Travatan. Your health care provider can discuss with you a more complete list of side effects.)
The most common side effects include:
* red eyes
* growth of eyelashes
* itchy eyes
* blurry vision
* eye discomfort or pain
* sensation of having an object in the eye
|
Wow, I got the red eyes, blurry vision, and sensation of having an object in the eye from using RL. Dammit! I thought it was from not getting enough sleep. Yeah, my eyelashes are growing, too, but I am NOT buying another tube of RL or JM after I use this one up. |

I've not had any of those occur from using RL but then I used it per the directions, once a day and didn't use any other products. Only thing that occured for me was longer/thicker lashes.

if you put too much on I found it could make my eyes red. Just put a very thin line on top of the lashes. This is the best beauty product on the market today that simply does what its supposed to for the majority of women and that is give you thick long lashes. My lashes gained length after 3 weeks, now after 3 months they are getting very thick and I dont need eyeliner because I have a thick black line on my lid from all the lashes.I also dont need mascara either so its a timesaver in the long run.I honestly dont see the big stink over JM I would rather see a big stink made over expensive products like strivectin and Athena 7 minute lift etc that dont do anything but cost as much as JM. There are many over the counter products that kill more people like aspirin etc.... |

Tonight I tried to use very little of RL to see if I get the red eyes, blurry vision, etc tomorrow. Ok, I should also go to bed really soon. I'm staying up to use the LightStim. I called LightStim today to tell them that after 2 months of use, I could not see any difference (my spots are not fading, and my forehead is not smoother), but she told me to try using it every other day or every 3 days, and for 2 mins each spot. |

Okay, I am a virgin user of Jan Marini....I have the new version of her product and have only been using it for 6 days (yes, I am counting!!!! )
So far? Absolutely no irritation or soreness...Although this is great news I just cannot get away from the maxim - no pain no gain.
I do wonder if the FDA forced JM to weaken the solution/remove the crucial ingredients....
Well time will tell. Going to take photos and document my eyelash growth...like everyone else here I am obsessed with the thought of having pretty eyelashes! |

I was told the new formula for JM is less irritating than the old but just as effective.(thats what JM herself said) |

This is just my opinion, & I could be wrong.
I think the last JM formula was dangerous & was forced to be taken off the market. There were incredible results, but at what cost? The new formula is still questionable if it's as good. When I see before & after pictures of the new formulas results, I'll decide if it is any good. The company is of course going to say it's as good or better for sales sake. |

I've been using the new formula (never tried the old one) for the past 2 1/2 weeks and have not noticed any difference in my eyelash length or condition. I know it's still early, but after reading all the great reviews I had expected to notice a little something.
I spoke to a cs person from Jan Marini yesterday and she confirmed that the formula has been changed. They removed the ingredient which was responsible for the amazing results and replaced it with another one. She told me the new ingredient was in the "same family" as the old one and very similar. Oh dear..I hope so. I hate to think I spent $160 on something that doesn't work. If I had known beforehand that the main ingredient had been changed, I would have waited for some reviews before purchasing. |

Thats funny because I had called lovely skin where I had ordered 2 new tubes. I was told the owner of lovely skin hd talked to Jan Marini herself and she told him that the problem really was just a labeling issue and that the only difference in the new formula is that it is less irritating to the eyes and its still the basic formula and it works just as well as the old formula...........If it doesnt I would like a refund on two tubes of JM! Does that mean then if it doesnt work we should allbe buying revitalash? |

I have just started using the new formula, no irritation whatsoever, but early days. I'm only applying it to upper lashline. Will report back as soon as I see some progress. |

I'm also using the new JM formula -- bought it without realizing that the formulation had been changed -- and I've been using it for about 1-1/2 weeks now.
My eyes are sensitive but I've had no irritation from this whatsoever.
I am currently growing out lash extensions, so it will be harder for me to tell how the product is working. I can say that the lash extensions had left me with a little bald spot on my right eye that I was noticing last night does seem to be sprouting some new lashes that look pretty thick. |

grrrrr....the evil of eyelash extensions! I really wish I never tried it. Actually I wish I read my own review of the extensions before I decided on doing it. LOL |

Well,I almost permed my long lashes but backed out at the last minute because I didnt want to risk losing them or having them messed up. I have heard lash extensions are really bad for your eyelahes,I would be too scared to try that. |

Lucy,
IF it was *just* a labeling issue, they would have just slapped new labels on top of the OLD product...they wouldn't have gotten new tubes and outside cardboard packages etc.
From what I'm reading on these boards it really sounds like they changed the formula. I would love to know if it's entirely different or just a "watered" down version of the old formula.
Since the glaucoma medicine is for use INSIDE the eyes, and the JM product is for use outside your eyes (no one here that I've heard of was putting it in their eyes) I'm just afraid that a watered down version won't work for my eyes.
When the Virgin users of the new formula have gone at least 12 weeks, we'll have a better idea if it's working. I can't recall how early I noticed results...but I'm pretty sure by 12 weeks my lashes were hitting the lenses of my sunglasses and my lashes looked fantastic. |

After reading all of this info I wanted to be sure that I would be happy with the new formulation before I sold it. I used the old formulation and I can promise you that it works. I called my rep today and asked her what the scoop was. She said the new formulation is similar and it is the next generation. She said that whereas with the old formula you could begin to see results in as little as three weeks, with this formula you would not see results for at least 3 months but then they would be even more dramatic. So there is definitely a difference in the actual formulation. it is not just relabeld. Now if she is truly speaking the Company line we really won't even know if the new JM works until the end of April since the new formulation just started shipping in the beginning of February.
PLease virgin users, post your results! I want to know if this product gives the same great results as the old one did. |

Thanks for posting this ... so those of us that are using this now know that we just have to be patient ... and not to stop using if we don't see any results because this is a long term process. Ok, I'm going to hang in there! |
