Am I doing something wrong? I've been using the highly acclaimed Decleor Ylang Ylang oil for a month now (since end of December) and I'm still super oily a few hours into my day. If I'm less oily than before, it's only minimally. I use those oil blotting papers (use Gatsby - a Japanese brand similar to Clean & Clear but bigger sheets), and I STILL go through TWO sheets each time.
Here is my regimen. Is there something that is keeping the YY from working as effectively as possible?
Morning:
-Proactiv BP Wash (yes, I know this is supposed to be drying, but I want to use it up; planning to switch to DHCC soon)
- Proactiv toner (has glycolic acid, no alcohol, so far my fav toner out there)
- Acne Getaway 101E (used to use Proactiv Repairing Lotion, BP based)
- Decleor YY oil
- Avene Moisturizer (SPF)
Evening:
- OCM with 1/2 olive oil, 1/2 castor oil OR epidermx II
- Proactiv toner
- Philospophy Help Me (Retinol based serum supposed to help with large pores) |

How much of it are you using? Most people use 2-3 drops however for me 2-3 drops would be way too much and will make my face greasy. I use one drop and I don't "massage" it in, I pat it in concentrating on my oilier areas. Massaging or using sweeping motions don't work that well for me, so I think perhaps you just need to find a way that is suitable for your skin to handle it. If after a lot of experimentation it still doesn't work for you, then it probably won't work for it unfortunately.
And if that's the case you should try another face oil like Clarins Lotus. From many MUA reviews usually those that find Decleor not working they get good results from Clarins and vice versa. Clarins did absolutely NOTHING for me but Decleor fixed my oiliness right away. You could also try Dr.H or PSF oils but they are much more moisturizing than the YY so I'm not sure how well they will work for your oily skin.

The Decleor Ylang Ylang oil did nothing for my oily skin either. After reading such glowing reviews, I couldn't understand why my skin remained so oily when using it. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! |

I'm going to cut out the Proactiv wash in the morning and use DHCC which I picked up yesterday. So no more benzoyl peroxide in my routine at all. Maybe this will help the YY work. Sormuimui, I'll try your suggestion in putting it on different ways. Thanks for the tips. |

If you want to stick with Decleor, you could always try the baume essentiel - it's supposed to be good for balancing problem skin. |

It took my skin around 6 weeks to adjust to the ylang ylang oil. But I would have to agree with sormuimui, you only need to use a tiny amount otherwise your skin will feel greasy & it takes ages for the oil to get absorbed. Although you could try the Dr H normalizing day oil, which I also quite like, even though I found the Decleor one more effective.

I've tried Decleor YY for almost a month. Did nothing for my oily T-zone. |

I think I was using the YY for a couple months before I noticed oil reduction. I think you should try it for a couple more months before giving up. Also, a cream with pearl powder I am using is making my skin matte, and it's amazing. |

Try the Dr. Hauschka's normalizing oil, it worked when the Ylang Ylang wasn't. |
