Ok, I know you guys always talk about spritzing your MMU to "set" it, but I never really bothered doing it. After all, I don't mind a super matte look, and in my mind putting water on my face would actually make my MMU wear off more quickly. However, this morning I thought "Aw, what the heck?" and gave my face a quick spritz with Caudalie grape water after I had applied my MMU but before I applied my eye make up, and what do you know--- it worked! I gave my face a light spritz, and then I kind of dabbed it in with a latex-free makeup sponge, and when I was done my makeup still looked good, but even better, it looked even MORE like a second skin than it usual does. I mean, I honestly couldn't even tell I was wearing makeup, except for the fact that my skin looked airbrushed and flawless. Also, I think it helped my makeup last longer-- I didn't need a single touch-up today. Thanks for the tip, ladies!

Yeah spritzing works for a most people but it never works for me, sometimes it does on those lucky days. It always leave my skin in patches (because I layer in concentrated areas that need added coverage) so at the end the lighter coverage areas get blended into my skin while the heavier coverage does not so I get varying colour patches. I also find it melds away any heavier coverage that you layered on so you end up having to put more MMU on after spritzing. Well for me anyways...

Oo, I have Caudalie grape water. Let me try spritizing it to set my makeup tomorrow! Liz, does it "set" your MMU right away? Usually, I wear MMU 30 min before walking out of the door because that's how long it takes for my MMU to settle down.

I use Evian spray to settle my makeup. Since the spritz isn't fine, I have to be very careful and stand a bit away from the can or else I end up with a big wet face and need to re-do my makeup.

Thanks for the input, sormuimui! I think I see what you are talking about--- I was just wearing a light dusting of MMU yesterday because my skin is actually cooperating these days, but if I were having to layer more I'm not sure I'd want to put water on top.

poolisey, yes it seemed to set it right away. What I did was I dabbed in all the moisture with a sponge, then I dusted with silk dust and went on with my makeup routine. HTH!

I am a spritzer! I swear by it when using mineral makeup. If you get the right kind of "pump" that lets only a very fine mist out (and be sure to hold the bottle about 6 inches away from your face) it works beautifully. I do one layer of mineral makeup a shade lighter, spritz, let dry and then a second coat of mineral make up, just a shade darker, spritz, let dry and then I apply my eye make up. My MMU lasts all day, and sometimes if it is hot and I feel like I am flushed, I spritz again when I used to apply more make up. I highly recommend using.

Spritzing your face after applying MMU makes such a huge difference in how natural the powder looks and how long it lasts.

I'm not sure if there's much difference between brands (though, I too, love Caudalie's Grape Water--it may be my imagination but it makes me much glowier than any other kind of spritz I've used) but having a very fine spray come out is key. Holding the bottle at arms length also helps so you don't get big droplets on your face that will mess up your makeup.

I spritz, too! Partly because my skin feels 'thirsty' after I put my make up on.

I think the more your skin gets accuatomed to spritzing, the more it asks for it.

If you know what I mean..

I think spritzing is key to MMU application. Right now, I use Avene Thermal Water because it comes out of the can in a very fine mist. I do my skincare routine, then apply my concealer, a light layer of silk dust, then my MMU, finishing powder and blush, then I spray. I admit, I spritz quite a bit!

My face looks quite wet when done spritzing, and I DO NOT TOUCH IT afterward at all! I just go make a cup of coffee or feed the cats or something until every last little drop of water has dried. I then take my wide pony brush and brush downward on my face, sort of doing one last blending. Done! The finish is always lovely and less "powdery." I think the key for me is not touching my face when it is wet, otherwise, I'd end up patchy.

i just made myself a MSM mister with a teaspoon of MSM powder dissolved in 4 0z of water. I've used that to set my MMU the last couple of days and it's made a huge difference!

My makeup looks so much better, that i won't forget this step again. Also, the MSM is good for your skin...topical or internal, i do both.

I could not wear MMU without spritzing, it just looks too dry and chalky, I spray quite a bit, it looks wet, then let it dry. Love it!

Thanks manslayerliz! I've tried today and must say it did help makeup last so much longer! I don't have a sponge so I used blotting paper Sad

I use PSF R&R Toner for spritizing. The mist is very fine. I just spray and let it dry. Now, I don't know if it actually changes the way my makeup looks, but it makes it feel better on my face. If that makes sense.

I spritz with Jane Iredale balance spray but I'll give the MSM mister a try! JI's spray seem to have lots of beneficial ingredients but i can't attribute any improvements in my skin to this..except that it's good for setting my MMU. Thanks for the MSM idea!
