what exactly does each one do? I found the following info helpful and thought I'd pass it along.

What is Galvanic Current and How Does it Work?
Galvanic current is commonly known as constant DC current. Galvanic equipment consists of two probes. One probe which is positively charged and another that is negatively charged. Depending on the desired result the positive or negative probe is used. Please note that it is the positive or negative charge that produces the desired effect or outcome and not the equipment.

What are the Benefits of Galvanic Current?

Listed below are some of the benefits derived from using a Galvanic (+,-) current.

Positive Charge (+)
*Soothes Nerves (Reduces inflammation)
*Decreases Blood Flow (Reduces Redness)
*Hardens Tissues (Closes Pores)
*Penetrate Acid Based Solutions

Negative Charge (-)
*Stimulates Nerves
*Increases Blood Flow
*Softens Tissues
*Penetrate Alkaline Based Solutions

What is Faradic Current and How Does it Work?

Faradic current is commonly known as interrupted AC current. This current mechanically stimulates the muscles of the body. Faradic current effectively causes the muscle to contract when stimulated by the current.

What are the Benefits of Faradic Current?

Since Faradic current stimulates the muscles, it is able to effectively slim, lift, tighten, and tone the body and greatly diminish the appearance of cellulite and fatty deposits.

Additionally, faradic current effectively exercises control over the muscles that control lymph flow, effectively aiding the body in the removal of toxins and impurities that have accumulated in the body. These toxins and impurities can accumulate due to sickness or inactivity. Since the lymphatic system has no pump like the heart; fluids are moved through the body by muscles contractions. If one is sick or inactive muscle contractions are limited and may be ineffective in helping the body cleanse itself quickly and effectively.

This removal process of toxins and impurities is known as Lymphatic Drainage. Typically, lymphatic drainage can be performed manually, and is commonly called a Lymphatic Massage. Currently there are only a few advanced skincare machines which do these type of treatment programs quickly and effectively.

What is Micro Current?

The use of low amperage electrical current or Micro Current as it is called was initially and strictly used to treat Bells Palsy and Stroke patients. This technology has been around for over two decades. Doctors discovered while using this type of low amperage electrical current on their patients, that it produced noticeable and dramatic changes, especially, on the affected areas of the body, particularly the face. This low amperage electrical current or micro current dramatically and noticeably lifted the facial muscles of the affected area higher than the unaffected area. Because of these amazing results, this technology has been fully adopted by the skincare and medical fields in Europe, United States, and Asia for greatly diminishing the effects of aging and improving the overall skin condition.

Micro current is low amperage current and is approximately a millionth of an amp. Microamperes (µA) and milliamperes (mAh) are not the same. One milliampere is equal to 1000µA. A milliampere is 1/1000 or .001 amps. A microampere is 1/1,000,000 or 0.000001 amps. Micro Current is substantially reduced amperage. In many cases one barely feels the current. In areas where the skin is extremely thin one may feel a slight tingling sensation, however, on a cellular level the body definitely feels the current. Please note that this is not a Galvanic or High Frequency current. It is micro current that is used for performing the amazing non-surgical face lift treatment.

Is Micro Current Non-Invasive?

Micro Current is classified as a non-invasive technology and unlike other technologies, one does not need to feel the Micro Current to see results. A common misconception is a treatment or technology needs to be aggressive and the client needs to feel the process or technology or it isn’t working properly! This is truly a myth and a misunderstanding of more advanced technologies that go beyond Microdermabrasion. Micro Current is a more advanced technology. Many studies have been conducted over the last several decades regarding this marvelous technology proving that it painless, innovative, and delivers dramatic, immediate, and noticeable results.

What are the Benefits of Micro Current?

By using Micro current on the body and face, one effectively increases Adenosine Tri Phosphate (ATP) levels in the body. ATP as it is called provides the body and muscles with energy. It is sometimes commonly felt as Well Being. Micro current increases fibroblastic activity (collagen) and protein synthesis (elastin); which soften lines and re-hydrates tissues, rejuvenates, helps reduce scaring, and plumps-up the muscles. Secondly, micro current increases cellular permeability which results in greater moisture, nutrients, and oxygen absorption by the cells and tissues. This ultimately leads to healthier skin. Thirdly, micro current encourages and promotes cellular regeneration and stimulates the healing process on a cellular level. Lastly, micro current aids in the re-education of the muscles of the face helping re-define, tone, and lift the face. Micro current is truly non-surgical face lift technology unlike any other on the market.

What Technically is Light Therapy?

There are a variety of laser treatments and they can all be technically classified as light therapy or low level light therapy, but the results and benefits vary greatly. Lasers used for skincare applications use a specific wavelength of light to produce a desired result or outcome. Also, lasers do not need to be high powered to be classified as a laser. The word laser can scare people because they think of surgical or hair removal lasers. For example, although low powered a laser pointer is technically classified as a laser. It is a visible light laser, although very low power. When one talks about lasers or light therapy devices make sure you get all the pertinent facts before you decide if this technology is right or not right for your spa or skincare clinic.

Please note that it isn't the laser that produces the result or outcome, but the light at a particular wavelength that produces a particular photochemical or photo-biological response from the body. The light acts as an activator or stimulator. For example, the skin, joints, muscles, and bones effectively absorb certain wavelengths of light. In order to produce a certain desired photo-biological or photochemical effect the light must be effectively absorbed by the skin, bone, joint, or muscle. Typically muscles, bones, and joints require a minimum wavelength of about 904 nanometers (nm) to be effectively absorbed and produce the desired effect.

What are the Fundamental Differences between Various Light Therapy Treatments?

Please note that any technology which uses light as a principal activator to produce a specific outcome including lasers is classified as a light therapy treatment. The light emitted from a laser by definition must be a single coherent wavelength or it isn't a laser.

Most spas and skincare clinics are using a variety of multiple wavelength light therapy equipment which is classified as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). Intense Pulsed Light treatments are commonly called a Photo Facial or Photo Rejuvenation treatment. Typically, the minimal wavelength for this type of treatment is around 680 to700 nm; however, some equipment have minimal wavelengths of 400 nm. The most common technology used for manufacturing light therapy devices is centered on LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). Since LEDs aren't too expensive to manufacture and are very efficient sources of light; many manufacturers of light therapy devices use LEDs; however, the quality varies substantially ultimately effecting the results. Also, LEDs can't be compared to a laser in terms of results and performance.

IPL devices use multiple incoherent wavelengths of light and they aren't classified as a laser. These devices use visible and infrared light (multiple wavelengths). Please note that one cannot see infrared light unless one has special equipment. One can only see visible light, not infrared with the naked eye.

These devices can produce a certain degree of heat, discomfort, pain and require a limited recovery period. Heat is always associated with infrared light. Infrared light produces a certain level of heat and depending on the wavelength of light it may become uncomfortable. Please note that some treatments may require a topical cream to be applied before or after the treatment to soothe the area treated making it a bearable treatment. Also, results aren’t immediate and it normally takes five or more treatments before noticeable and dramatic result can be easily seen

Classification of Lasers

*Cold Laser* < 100 mW (milliwatts)~Therapeutic Applications such as Skincare

*Hot Laser* > 100 mW (milliwatts)~Medical, Commercial, or Industrial Applications

*Class I* Commercial (Scanners/CD Players)~Reading Information on disk or scanning barcodes

*Class II* Therapeutic/Non Medical Grade~Safe, Painless, and Non-Invasive Technology.

*Class III* Medical Grade~Hair Removal and Surgical Procedures

What are the Benefits of Light Therapy?

It is important to note that the benefits of therapeutic laser have been around for over three decades. Some of the benefits are: increased ATP levels, circulation, fibroblastic activity (collagen), protein synthesis (elastin), cell permeability, and tissue regeneration, anti-inflammatory, and pain relief. These are just a few of the many beneficial effects that are associated with light therapy.

What is Ultrasound and How Does it Work?

It is important not to confuse ultrasound with high frequency or Tesla (Violet Ray) equipment. Many of these technologies can be confusing, but all one needs to know is what technology is acting as the stimulator. The Tesla or High Frequency (HF) equipment uses HF, which acts as a stimulator, to produce high levels of heat. It is the heat or thermal action that produces the desired outcome or results. Ultrasound uses sound waves as it principal stimulator; however, frequency is still important, but it is the sound vibration that produce the desired results.

There are several manufacturers of this type of equipment who use this technology for strictly skincare applications. When looking at such a device; however, what is really important is the frequency and power of the ultrasonic equipment. In order to be classified as an ultrasonic device the number of vibrations per second must be at least 17,000 Hz (17 KHz).

What are the Benefits of Ultrasound?

It is important to note that the benefits of ultrasound have been around for many decades. Ultrasound is not a new technology, but a flexible technology that offers different treatment options and applications. Ultrasonic devices and equipment are used in the medical field for imaging and treating wounds and injuries because of its remarkable healing effects on the body.

It’s this technology’s ability to greatly aid in healing that has made it such a crucial and fundamental technology to aid in skin renewal and rejuvenation, effectively slowing down the aging process. Effectively regulating and controlling the healing process is fundamental and key to reducing and slowing down the entire aging process. Skin rejuvenation and renewal starts on the inside to effectively diminish and slow down the aging process.

Besides working internally the ultrasonic waves work externally effectively killing bacteria/germs and sterilizing, removing toxins and impurities, exfoliating skin (deep/superficial), increasing circulation (lymph/blood), helping hydrate skin (deep moisturizing), and toning (softens skin). These are just a few of the beneficial effects that are directly associated with ultrasound. One can classify the effects into three fundamental categories. Listed below are the three fundamental categories.

*Mechanical Effect* Ultrasound is used to exfoliate skin by removing dead skin cells and debris. Additionally, ultrasonic waves micro-massage the skin and dermis.

*Thermal Effect* Through the use of the ultrasonic applicator heat and friction are created. This heat and friction effectively increases capillary dilation, thus increasing blood flow. With increased blood flow more nutrients and oxygen can be absorb by the cells.

*Chemical Effect* The ultrasonic waves produce reactions in the body to promote the healing process.

Why is a Vacuum Beneficial?

This is one of the simplest technologies to use and understand. The vacuum is used to aid in deep pore cleansing, removal of toxins and impurities; removal of dead skin cells after exfoliation is complete, increasing blood circulation, aid in metabolism and lymphatic drainage.

What is Cryotherapy and How Does it Work?

Cryotherapy technology has been around for many years. Basically, Cryotherapy freezes the skin irregularity. Many cryotherapy devices either use Carbon Dioxide (CO2) or Nitrous Oxide (NO2) to freeze the irregularity; however, NO2 is the most popular. The reason NO2 is used is because some skin irregularities are more quickly and efficiently removed at lower temperatures. Nitrous Oxide has a much lower freezing temperature.

Treatments typically last a few seconds and depending on the size and type of skin irregularity more time or treatments may be required. The use of cryotherapy is very well established in almost every major medical field and specialty due to its excellent healing properties, high degree of patient acceptance, and relatively painless treatments it offers. Cryotherapy effectively destroys modified body tissues while keeping fibrous tissues intact.

This technology effectively treats hyper-pigmentation, acne scars, keloidal scars, warts, cysts, keratosis, and skin tags. It is also used to aid in the removal of tattoos.

What is Radio Frequency (RF) and How does it Work?

Radio Frequency uses sound waves to treat minor skin irregularities. It is these sound waves that produce a certain level of heat. This is very similar to High Frequency (HF). The sound waves generated produce a certain level of heat. It is this heat or thermal energy that is used to treat certain minor skin irregularities. The heat or thermal energy generated effectively dries up the skin irregularity and depending on the type and size of the irregularity multiple treatments may be required.

This technology effectively treats hyper-pigmentation, skin tags, spider naevi, cholesterol deposits, milias, telangiectasis, acne pimples, fibroma simplex, clogged pores, and angiomas.

What is High Frequency (HF) and How does it Work?

This is similar to radio frequency, but we use High Frequency (HF). The difference between High Frequency and Radio Frequency is High Frequency uses frequency rather then sound to produce a desired outcome or effect. These HF waves produce a certain level of heat just like RF waves. It is the heat or thermal effect that is used to treat certain minor skin irregularities.

Okay for all you anti aging device experts -
have been doing some research but now want to
find folks with experience on these devices.
Have decided the microcurrent is what I need for some small sagging under the chin, the nasal lines by the mouth and crows feet.
It sounds as if Facemaster won't do the trick for all 3 areas but dermal tone or Facemaster
will. Which device do you think is the most Very Happy effective for those areas - or something else.
Since i'm in the US, can't use the device by
winhealth. Your expertise is greatly appreciated!! DIPhx
