Hello everybody,

Can you please help me on my quest for a good moisturizer. I'm usually combo/normal and dry in winter, prone to breakouts in weird places (sides of nose, forehead above nose, random places on cheeks).

I'm currently using Dr. H rose day cream but find it too heavy.

Other things I've used: Dr. H quince day cream (kind of blah on the whole), Bobbi Brown day moisturizer. Dr. H normalizing oil. Emu looks greasy on my face and just doesn't go in. From my previous post, a couple of people recommended to give Rosehip oil the boot. Evening oil of Primrose hasn't worked too well for me either. Jojoba doesn't do much for me either. Olivia suggested Neutrogena day cream, which I still have to try. I believe I used some Neutrogena products a while ago and ended up with very dry skin, so I'm wary.

I'm hoping there will be an overwhelming rave for a few moisturizers I can then try.

Please weigh in. TIA

Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions, as I am on the hunt for a good moisturizer too! I will watch this thread with great interest.

I am using Dr.H quince am and Dr.H rose pm and so far they are just 'ok'. I am still experiencing breakouts and don't know if they are the cause or something else!

My main interest is a cream that is light yet hydrating, and doesn't cause milia or further breakouts! Is that asking for too much?

hi!

i love osea's advanced protection cream, but it is rather heavy. la vie en rose turned me on to epidermix's chrysalyx, which smells amazing and is very light and nourishing. i always mix extra stuff into my moisturizers, and i am just loving apc with a drop of liquid oat beta glucans and a drop of spf's HA--since it has algae gel as its main ingredient, which creates a protective barrier over the skin, i feel great about sealing my actives in and having a slight barrier between me and my sunscreen/powder. works beautifully.

the chrysalyx is a lovely cream chock full of perfect ingrdients for daily use, and it is very light.

also, today i sampled some of sisley's new cream called "hydra Global." It is light, and smells nice, and seeks to sink in rather elegantly. expensive, but maybe worth a sampling:

I'm loving Decleor's Aromessence line. Neroli would probably be best for your combo skin. You can try to get a sample from Sephora, EDS, or elsewhere and see if you like it. The Decleor Aromessence line has an oil and a matching night balm www.decleor.com

I find Babor's Calming Sensitive Day Cream to be a good moisturizer. It's not too heavy. I've been meaning to try their Bi Phase moisturizer. Have heard wonderful things about this product. These products are not scented.

I second the Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel, and add SK-II Facial Treatment Essence prior to the HRG for visibly better results. The SK-II is expensive so you may want to try a sample first.

I tend to have breakout in the same places as you. My skin is dehydrated combination, but this winter it has been much more dry (new climat probable reason). Now I use a combination of oil and moisturiser + a serum with HA. For moisturiser I use Eucerin hydro-protect for sensitive skin. It dosen't break me out, goes on without shine and is a good makeup base. In winter it is not enough so I use weleda wild rose oil in addition + farfalla aloe-shea serum with HA. This way I can regulate what I use after the needs of my skin. Smile

If you want to something in line with Dr.H. rose cream, you could have a look at Weleda moisturiser. They have a large selection, including a lightweight rose cream.

Thanks guys,

Chrysalyx, Jurlique HRG and Weleda sound pretty nice. Does anyone know where I could get a sample of Chrysalyx?

It goes with epidermx in The Stretch Mark BusterTM - Basics Tester Pack. If you'd like to go without epidemx, I think you can email Amy, and she'll help you. Smile

Hi Agent-00-Cat,
I've tried many of the same products that you have and I have a similar skin type -- I am combo/dry/sensitive and do have some occasional breakouts. I found Dr H rose cream to be too thick. I just finished my Dr H quince lotion - it sometimes tended to be too oily, and just really didn't do anything for healing. I've tried Trilogy rosehip oil lotion and oil, and I broke out a bit from them -- I think they're too thick for me. Bobbi Brown eye cream gave me millia (I don't remember if it's one "l" or two). The list goes on. However, just last Friday I found THE Holy Grail lotion for me. It's Decleor Harmonie Emulsion. I had some ingrown hair sores above the lip (caused from tweezing). I've been struggling for months to get them to heal - they always stay reddened. Well, as of today (5 days after purchase), all healed. My skin looks better - it looks healthy, it's hydrated, but not greasy. I bought mine at Nordstroms, because the sales lady was so helpful. Next time, I will get it at ESD, because the prices are so much better. Hope this helps.

I'm looking for a day moisturizer as well. I can't seem to be able to find a nice basic one to use under sunscreen. Dr. Hauschka Rose Creme is okay, but I don't like the finish; it's a little too greasy/shiny for me and seems to "eat" my sunscreen.

I'm thinking of trying Primavera Hydrating Cream. Has anyone here tried this one? It sounds good.

I too was searching for a new moisturizer (see my poll). I decided on the Sisley global. It is coming in from Bangkok, Thailand and just leaving tomorrow so my first review is 3 weeks away. Smile

I second the Declour Harmonie line. Very calming yet it doesn't clog pores. It nicely balances and isn't too heavy. I use the Gentle Soothing Cream in the day or night time, depending on when I need it, over my IS Clinical serums.

ooooooh... I feel a decleor lemming coming on. I have just been to the website, all their products sound fabulous.

The reviews on MUA also look very promising.

Has anyone tried any of their other moisturisers?

I've just started using a lotion by Trilogy, which seems to be working quite well for my oily/combo skin. It's quite firming too which is a plus. My skin can get very dehydrated too, and I find it hard to find products that provide the moisture I need without the shine! Cellex C B5 Gel is also great, and doesn't leave an oily finish

For whatever reason I always go back to Eucerin Q10 Antiwrinkle. It works, it doesn't irritate my skin like so many others, it doesn't shine, it's at the drugstore, with drugstore a price.
That said, I now want to try the other mentioned above!

Sorry, another question for you Decleor gals, do you have to use both the oil and the balm? Or is it ok to use one without the other?
