If you don't want to buy it, then a brilliant FOC alternative is if you have been using Prescriptives, Maybelline, Revlon, or even MAC liquid liners you can save the brush that comes with them when you've used them up (but then of course with MAC you might want to return it for the free lippie...). Their applicator tip has the same pencil-like point that we're looking for. With a pencil brush I can control the amount of product, the intensity of the colour and the thickness, even shape, of the line.
BB's ultra fine eyeliner brush is also good, but someone said it can splay after a while.
Small angle brushes are great for lining with powder eyeshadows, but I find that they waste a lot of product when used with gel liners.
I wonder what others use with their Fluidline/BBLW gel liner.  |

I use 263, 266 works too but the product tends to dry too easily on the 266. 263 is synthetic so I can reuse a bunch of times before I need to wash it.
I can see 211 being able to be used and 208 as well but I can't imagine 219 - I use 219 as a crease brush, I can't imagine using my fluidlines with it, also I don't think it's very good for the natural brush hairs on the 219. |

I love my MAC 263. Makes putting on my Fluidlines a breeze.
Prior to MAC i was using BB's ultra fine eyeliner brush and was sorely disappointed when it splayed after the first wash! However it was good and easy to use while it lasted. Don't waste your money on this. |

Wow I'm surprised to hear your BB ultra fine brush didn't last. I've had mine for 5 years at least and I wash it after every use and it's still working perfectly. However, I don't think it applies as well with MAC Fluidline. I use MAC 209 with my Fluidline, but I don't really like it. |

Sormuimui, I don't think I take into account the brush material...  It works almost as well as 211 for me when applying my Fluidlines.
I wouldn't rule out small angle brushes to use with Fluidline/gel liner altogether, but for quick work with the gel liners I have found 211 (or similar) to be the best: you just dip and draw. |

How does 211 compare to 209, I've never tried a pencil brush like those because I'm bad at drawing straight lines and so I go with the angle which I feel I have more control with? |

I would not recomend the 219 brush for fluidlines, it is more suited to blending eye khols along the lash line or for power eye shadows.
The 211 is good for a thin line.
I use a lip brush for applying fluidlines ( the 316 is a good example but you get far less expensive lip brushes), the nice thing about using a lip brush is that you can get any width you are comfortable with using.
If you want to apply the fluidline as an eye shadow to the whole of the lid then the MAC 242 works well. |

You know thinking about it, I guess it all really depends on your hands...For me the 211 works best, and if I don't have it the 219 is a great substitute (although you are right, the line does tend to be thickish). My girlfriend can't use 219 either, but she uses a lipbrush, which I can't!
My next best would be the small angle brush - if only I don't waste so much product when using it! |

 maybe i got a bad batch. Upon checking MUA, I see that many have also had problems with the BB brush splaying. Oh well, at least my MAC 263 works great for me. |

Thought I'd bump this up, to update my views on Fluidline applicators.
I still like MAC 211, 
but I have now fallen in love with BB Ultra Fine Eyeliner brush.
I have washed it many times since I've had it a few weeks ago and it has not splayed at all. And like MAC 211, the BBUFE brush can draw thick or thin lines just the way you like it.
I've tried MAC 263  but it didn't work for me (nor any angled eyelining brush, for that matter, except when used with powder liners) Maybe its just my hand.  |

| I llooovvvveee, pardon adore/revere, my MAC 263 (Sometimes called 233). For me, it doesn't hold a candle to the BB brush which poops ut long before the MAC one. I;ve had mine for almost 2 years and I use it everyday!!!! |
