I was milling around Acne.org, looking for ideas for my clogged nose pores. I tend to have alot of whiteheads there and on my chin. I ran across this thread and I thought "what the heck" and decided to do this treatment, which is basically to fill a sink with very hot (not scalding) water and dunk your face into it for 60 to 100 seconds (take a breath every so often Cool). I didn't do it night and day on a daily basis as recommended, as I thought this would make my skin too dry. I did it once on Tuesday night and once on Thursday night, after using the OCM. I also chose to apply my topicals right after, thinking that penetration would be better right after the dip because the pores would be opened up. Kinda like steaming, but taking it one step further. I must say that my skin is less oily and I did notice one zit that was starting to form has disappeared. And another whitehead has surfaced and looks like it's going to come out soon. So I'm thinking Humm...there may be something to this. I'm thinking this is good for really oily gals and not so good for sensitive, rosacea skintypes, or if you have broken caps.

I thought maybe some of you might want to try it out and see what happens. Report your results!

I'd be worried about broken capillaries with this. Anything to do with greatly varied hot/cold temperatures apparently increases the chances of those nasty little spider veins.

Are you still doing this on a regular basis?

I agree with Mabsy. I suffered the consequences of washing my face with water that was too warm.

actually, my face never looks better than when i do the hot water splashes ad nauseum from the Erno Laszlo regime. it's not this dip, but the principle is the same....

I stopped doing the dip after the 4th time because my skin was getting too dry and red. I think I will stick with OCM and hot washcloths. Maybe REALLY oily people would benefit.
