That is interesting CM, for me its the complete opposite re CM's mitts. I have both kinds:
(1) it doesn't actually feel to me like it does much exfoliation at all, and it leaves pieces on my skin. Also I have a really hard time figuring which side of the mitt to use, its not clearly labelled at all, and both sides are very differently feeling.
(2) I have the opposite result with oils, I have naturally dry skin, and so for me the microfibre cloth should be making it even dryer, but it doesn't for me. Also I like the fact that the microfibre cloth is wet, whereas CM's mitts you have to use dry. Also to me my skin feels much smoother after the cloth to the touch, than CM's mitts.
(3) I've also found the instructions she sends with the mits very hit and miss, but I have to say I find that with a lot of her products. When I first got the mitts there was no instructions at all about using it, and it wasn't until I read somewhere on EDS that there were specifics about making the o shape with your mouth and rubbing in circular motions 30 times. When I ordered the second time, I requested the instructions and got them. Its the same with the No Lipo Lipo. Some people get a sheet of supplements recommended for the skin from Carole, and others don't. I had to request those details and I think its a little unfair that there isn't info like that provided equally to all. |

I bought a special brush for my face, but no I wouldn't recommend you use the big body brush, as thats too challenging for most people. Its a small nail brush I use made of natural fibres.

Hi TM! I went to Whole Foods last night and picked up a natural bristle nail brush! I really appreciate your help!! I just wonder if you have any tips you would be willing to share? How often do you Brush? Thank you
I'm getting into Dry Brushing because I want to start dermarolling.. PHEW |

Well I do it only 2 to 3 times a week max. I used to do it daily, but I've got dry skin and it seemed to stress it out a bit. So its worth monitoring how your skin responds. I just do small little circles from the centre of the face outwards, along the jawline, upper lip to ears, under eye area, and temples and forehead. I'm celtic, so go very red on things like this and massage, but it makes my skin feel so soft and smooth afterwards, I'm never going to give that up. |

Thanks TM! I'm very pale skinned myself. I will try and brush every three days. How to you clean your brush? |

Sure, each person is going to have a different response
By the way, the mitts I have from Carole Maggio are identical on both sides--so it sounds like you have a different mitt from her?? Also, I use the microfiber cloths dry, as for me personally, using them wet dries out my skin even more. Just my personal experience with them |

I think at the time I purchased two mits she recommended to me, but they are different on both sides for sure. I've not been able to figure out which side, and when speaking to her company they told me it should be obvious, but it wasn't so I tried both sides for a while. Definitely wasn't for me as didn't get any benefit.
With the microfibre cloth, thats interesting re dry. I just follow the instructions that came with mine, and it definitely said to wet cloth first, but shows you we're all different! |

That's interesting. I'm genuinely curious whether our very different experiences is because it's that (a) one of the types of mitts she sells is better than the other, (b) we just have different skin and different reactions, or (c) some combination of the two It sounds like it's (b), but I'd be curious to hear if anyone has used all of the mitts that Carole Maggio sells and thinks that one of the mitts is better than the other....is Aprile reading this thread by any chance...? Since I like Carole's mitts, I'd at least like to use the best one she offers. TheresaMary, did you like one of the two mitts you purchased from Carole Maggio better, and if so, which one? Thanks so much! |

I have been thinking about these mitts too and I can understand the confusion. I am not the best to read directions...I get excited and try something without reading directions. So what I did was first use it wet...like I do with my clarisonic...made sense and then I was watching the product demonstration on her dvd for the ultimate Facercise and saw that it was suppose to be used dry....oh wow at first I was using it wet. Well then the fact that there are two mitts...one is pink and best I can tell both sides are the same. The other one is bamboo and one side is rough and raised and the other side is smooth. Now I will show the mitts I have and the instructions and you guys can take it from there.Hope this helps.

I love these mitts - My face mitt is not a pink color. Mine is more neutral tone. The bamboo is wonderful but probably best used after your face gets used to some level of dry brushing. It has a rougher texture - really can tell you are exfoliating. |

Well she recommended to me to use both.
Ann's look identical to mine. I have both of those that she shows. I'm not sure I did have a favourite as they both felt pretty much the same.
Ann thats great re the instructions you have, but is the very point I was making before. Her company seem to be a bit hap hazard with sending out instructions. For example I purchased the no lipo lipo(I started the thread on it too), and whilst I love the system, and it does wonders, I discovered through a conversation with someone that they had received an extra sheet more than I did, advising 3 powders to be mixed together and drunk in the mornings to help the skin. My kit never had ANY such recommendation. I know from others I've spoken to that they didn't either. I emailed Carole asking what those supplements were and she responded (which was nice of her) but I just find it frustrating that some people get detailed instructions and some dont. For example I never got any instructions like Ann did with either of my two mitts. And it would have been helpful to have something to go on from Carole, other than what was written by the manfacture of the mitts.
My pink one though has different textures on both sides, and the bamboo one is very different but again I'm not sure if your supposed to use which side. Its one of those things that is mega confusing. I've also placed orders for her skincare stuff, and got instructions for an entirely different product. Go figure. |

My mitts are identical to Toby's - except for the color of the face mitt.
I also DID NOT get the same instructions that Toby got and I had no idea about the 3 powders to be mixed together and drunk in the mornings to help the skin. This did not come with my no lipo lipo either. (Can you tell us what they are? I sure would like to know Theresa Mary).
I think CM runs a small operation so there are likely these discrepencies. I am very happy with both her mitts and the facercise program. Also it is good that she responds back when you have a question.
What skincare products did you get TM? |

I'm not sure I can print here what Carole recommends, as that would be breach of copyright wouldn't it. Not wanting to do that at any costs.
With the No Lipo Lipo, not everyone has got those same instructions either. Toby, did you get instructions with yours?
I think one was a multi vit powder, not sure the others off the top of head, but I'll check tonight.
Were you using the mitts without problem then Sistersweets? I think if there are instructions for a product, then no matter what the size of the company, it should be ensured that the correct instructions are sent out with the correct products.
I tried her EGF cream, Heavy Water Spritz, and also got the Ultra Hyaluronic Cream. They were very nice products for sure, hands down, but I'm not able to afford that expense each month (but if I had the money I easily would!).

Just got CM's 2 facial mitts & so far so good. I had been dry brushing (hard) with natural bristle brush & this feels much milder to be sure. But my skin seems to be responding nicely so will continue just with these for now. (only been using for 4 days)
I also got the horsehair mitt for body & that one is instant rave!!! My skin feels like absolute silk! I have never had such great exfoliation from anything else! Now I understand a quote I recently read about this being the Lamborghini of dry brushing! |

Yes I do too, I recently spoke to Carole and she said the horse hair delivered results faster. Don't we all want results faster???? |

I know when I ordered my no lipo lipo - she said she had been testing a horsehair mit for the face, and so I ordered that up straight away, but when the order arrived, it was exactly the same as the no lipo lipo glove. Thats going to be way too rough on my face, so I put it to use on the body instead, and its quicker for me as I do two sides at once!

Just thinking as well... how do people know about the no carbs after 5pm thing if they don't have that sheet, as the other part of the sheet broke down that no carbs after 5pm, and listed exceptions also? Is there a different no carbs after 5pm we're all getting. |

The horsehair mitt I thought was only for the body. I have heard the no carbs after 5:00 in a conversation with Carole over the phone not anything I have seen on an instruction sheet. |

See its no wonder we're getting confused over things. I have an instruction sheet which basically says no carbs after 5pm except and lists some stuff. I'll have to dig the sheet out later tonight, but I think its sloppy business really if they are sending out instructions to some folks, and not to others - especially when we're ordering the same product.
I know from talking with her on the phone, she said she had been testing a knew mit which made her face really red because of the increased circulation, so when she asked me if I wanted to order one, I was like Hell yeah, but when it arrived it was exactly the same as the No Lipo Lipo mit. I don't have the patience to email her again. I mean it takes her several days to get back to me, and often she never answers the questions I ask her so its a waste of time for me. I get so frustrated by the whole thing! |

I don't do that since I'm prone to spider veins and have them on my cheeks. I do massage my face whenever I use cleansing oil or cleansing milk to remove my makeup, and occasionally do warm/hot compress with essential oils so that aids in circulation and firming of the skin.
Or you could just let your head hang below the level of your heart for an instant boost. Not good for my spider veins though. |

Interesting, the mitt I have from Carole Maggio is beige and it does not look like either of those two that Toby posted. Also, my mitt is the same on both sides. But I bought mine from Carole Maggio several years ago. Thanks, TheresaMary and Toby for your opinions on Carole's two latest mitts; that's very helpful |

Last night was my second time dry brushing my face and body. I made sure my face was completely dry then dry brushed. I couldn't believe how much flakes came off! I'm sure the flakes are due to retin-a usage but still... it was gross!
afterwards, my face was a bit red and irritated so I applied hemp oil and went to bed and this morning, my face looks good! I'm excited to see how my skin will improve with consistent dry brushing.
I'm using all natural boar's hair facial brush for my face. It seems a little soft but I figure I'll start off easy since my face is so sensitive. Is boar's hair ok for dry brushing one's face? Or do you think it's too soft to aid in lymphatic drainage?
I'm using Yerba Prima for body and it feels great!!!! |

I have been dry brushing my face and body for 3 weeks now, 2x per day then I shower do hot and cold cycles x3 ,apply cream, and my skin feels lovely. I started doing the body because of leg veins, which sadly are still the same, but I have been told this can take months to improve, there are so many benefits, cellulite reduction, skin tightening, improve the immune syststem, wrinkles, veins etc etc the list goes on.
I will now always dry brush, I use a softer one for my face. |
