My face has been breaking out for a couple of weeks now. No matter what I tried, I had at least 4 red acne spots on my face. I couldn't clear it up. My face always seems clear in the summer. I thought, what am I doing now that is different from my summer routine??? The beach...we live 5 minutes from it, and we spend every weekend in the ocean.
Tonight I took some sea salt that I had in my kitchen cabinet. I mixed it with a small amount of warm water and stirred it so some of the salt dissolved. I spot treated the spots, then took a washcloth and washed my face with it. Literally within 3 hours, the spots are drying up. I've seen more healing in 3 hrs, than I've seen in 2 weeks.
Has anyone else done this before???? I guess the salt water dries it up??? It did burn alittle, I guess because I had open wounds on my face. The difference between now and when I got home from work is really remarkable. |

The clarifying toner from Pevonia has salt in it as well as some other brands. |

Hmm interesting. I know salt is a handy disinfectant for mouth ulcers and small cuts (though it stings like anything ) but I never thought to try on spots. Maybe I shall try it next time |

This reminds me--when I was a teenager and we spent a week at the beach, my acne would get a lot better. At the time, the explanation was that sunshine was improving it, but now I wonder if it wasn't the salt water? |

I too have done this and sea salt is excellent for treating acne. |

yeah, sea salt is great. I've been mixing it with water for my face for years. I sometimes put in the bath as well which helps dry up anything on the body! I never quite get the same effects as from swimming in the sea, you cant beat that! But the home potion definitely helps. |

I'm glad to hear that others use this with results. I wonder if regular salt would work as well as sea salt. My sea salt says it is made from evaporated sea water. The regular salt is salt and iodine. |

I believe sea salt/rock salt and "Himalayan salt" are all very high in mineral content, so that may also aid in healing blemishes. |

I agree, see salt is great for acne. I usually use it once a month (I got it in Europe), but now have to buy more. Where do you buy your see salt? |

Lara, not sure who you directing your question for.. I think most people can find good quality sea salt/rock salt at a larger supermarket otherwise health shops would definitely carry some form of pure sea/rock salt. |

I use Hain Sea Salt. I got it from a local health food store. It was a little more than regular salt, but I can't remember exactly what I paid for it. |

Miranets and Chrissie, thanks!
I was asking anyone that knows where to buy see salt I went last week to a Loblaws, but they didn't have it . I will check other supermarkets tomorrow. I have to say that I really like using the see salt, especially when I go to the sauna after gym . I just rub it all over my body. It is the best exfoliator! |
