ok, here is the deal - i love gettng my lashes tinted and it looks really great! I don't have to wear maskara and worry about it smugging if i decide to go for a dip at the pool. BUT are there any side effects? if i do it once a month are my lashes going to fall out? |

Glow, are you already doing this? How many times? I am considering it....but also wonder about how long it lasts, any danger to the eye, etc. I have dark brown lashes but would like them to be even darker especially at the tips...would love not to have to wear mascara... |

i haven't tried tinting my lashes but I have tried curling them. I guess somewhat similar as you apply chemical onto the lashes(? is that how it works with tinting?). My experience with the curling procedure is its painless and seemed relatively safe ( as long as you keep your eyes closed the whole time). The curl lasted for a month at least and was great. I did it for 3 consecutive months without any lash fall-out problem. I guess it depends on who does it and how strong the chemicals are. My 2 cents. |

I have naturally blond hair (which is now red) and fairly light eyelashes. I tried tinting them, but I didn't see a huge difference. For me, it wasn't worth the hassle. I have started using Lamas Lash Masque and I really love it. My lashes have gotten longer and darker in the month that I have been using it. It says to use it at night, but a lot of times, I use it during the day when I am going sans makeup to give a little definition to my eyes without looking too heavy. Here is their website...

I have red hair with brown eyelashes and blond tips . I get my lashes tinted medium-dark brown and love the results. Very glossy and thick looking. Generally last 6-8 weeks. Definitely worth it in my books.
Sometimes I'll get my brows tinted at the same time. They're brown with red and blonde. Results were horrific last time though. They left the tint on my brows too long and I came out looking like Bette Davis in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane".
Nightmare....
My lashes looked great though and I got a whack of credits for further tinting so it's all good... |

I always liked Bette's look in that film!
It's not something I do, but my friend Claire has her lashes dyed and permed every month for about 2 years without any ill effects. She does look a bit startled sometimes tho! |

just make sure you get a patch test, you don't want puffy pink eyes or bumpy eyebrows like I did, I now do my own rather than at a salon, that way I have no one to blame if it goes wrong It doesn't seem to have any side effects perhaps apply mascara everyday that could dry out your lashes would do more harm. Bring on the jojoba oil |

Eve,
What product do you use to dye your brows at home? |

I think it's a product called coloursport from Boots here in the UK.
Weird thing is after I dabbed my lashes I patch tested a little on a grey bit of hair and the damn thing made a patch on my head go all red |

I have a female friend who tints her lashes monthly at home...She has fair skin and light coloured lashes and can go a month without touching her lashes
She uses Refectocil brown tint and buys it from a company online...

well it is, just use the same precautions as if you were doing a home hair colour, I like to use a thick barrier cream round my brows and lashes in case I get it on my skin and use an old mascara brush to apply it, much better than the little plastic wand I get in my kit. |
