I wear a nightguard now that I wish my original retainer would have been like. It sort of clicks onto my teeth. I can still talk okay with it in but I still sort of sound like I have a bit of a lisp and it has a minimal monkey mouth effect Laughing... it actually makes my lips plump out a little bit- oh la la ! heehee Smile. It has made such a difference in my jaw aches and headaches. The most important thing is that is has stopped my gums from receding (teeth grinding can do that).

amnis - Do you wear a regular nightguard or the NTI device (front teeth only)? I think I'll be stuck wearing the NTI device for the rest of my life since I have major TMJ problems and this has been the only thing that has helped. The problem is, I look like a rabbit or something because it's on the front teeth only and sticks out quite a bit. Embarassed

Scally - I don't know if you grind/clench your teeth at night, but if so be prepared to go through your plastic retainer pretty quick. I've completely chewed off the back half of mine. Of course my NTI device now acts as my retainer so I don't have to worry about it anymore. So when do you get them off? It's soon right? Very Happy

Okay so I had a total panic attack this weekend. On Saturday around 5pm I got to my bf's house and realized I had left ALL of my supplements at home Shock . I wasn't going back home until late Sunday night so I had to spend a full 24 hours without anything. The only thing I noticed were AWFUL headaches Saturday night and Sunday. I think that may be related to the missed MSM since someone else posted about that experience here. Oh well, I'm back on track now so hopefully I didn't take a step too far back with my missed day.

Scally - Sorry to hear about your new development. Boric acid caps at night have been my savior for that, so you might want to give it a whirl.

By the way, where does everyone get your GSE?

Most health food stores should have it. I'd stronly recommend "NutriBiotic" brand. It's a bit pricey, but this stuff is potent and will last you forever!

From my own trial and error I find that his does work better but there is the cost to consider.

Thanks for that. I got the Oreganol and have been taking one a day. Do you follow that dosage? Smile

I started reading this post late last night. Lots of good info guys. Just got to page 5 and ScotsLass mentioned about oil pulling. Yep, that’s me, I love oil pulling. This has helped me immensely with a pain I have in my hip. I know this works because I stopped for a few days and the pain came back. I also notice my heels are as smooth as a baby’s butt and the bumps on my arms are gone. I guess my insides are supposed to be in good shape also from oil pulling but I don’t know what to look for so not sure. It took about a week to get used to it, now its second nature. Every morning before any coffee/food I take a soup spoon full of safflower oil, cold pressed & unrefined, grab a paper tower and come upstairs and get on the computer and read all the new posts on EDS. The brand I use is Rapunzel from Southern France. Health food stores carry it. The paper towel is for an emergency like maybe having to sneeze or something. I never have had to use it yet, but just in case. After the 20 minutes of swishing I go in and flush the toilet and when the water starts to swirl I spit it out. Then I rinse my mouth with warm salt water and brush my teeth. Some people say that they have whiter teeth since oil swishing but in my opinion that’s from the salt water rinse.

Like I said this post is very informative. I was reading it out of curiosity but the more I read I thought maybe this oregano stuff would help my husband. I make him oregano tea and he says it helps. He has stomach problems and bloating and the Dr’s can’t figure out what he has. The next test for him is having a scope put down his throat. He has had it done before and they gave him too much of the stuff to make it go down and he had a bad reaction to it. Code Blue actually. He has canceled two appointments because they won’t listen to him about the amount. All he wants is the bare minimum.

Just want to thank ALL OF YOU again for the informative posts.

Hey again. I should be mine off in 1-2 months! Sometimes, I do notice that I grind my teeth but it's mostly due to getting used to my new bite, which has been forever changing of late. Seems things are finally settling down, though. BTW, where did you find the boric acid caps? Re: GSE, I bought mine at the Vitamin Shop online store. Most health food stores should carry the Nutribiotic brand, though. Boy, I sure do know what you mean about not having the vital equipment and sorry to hear about your weekend-long headache! Yikes! I don't think you'll have too much setback or at least I hope so.

Frodo, I'll have to give the oil pulling a try, if I can find that brand of oil or one like it. That might not be so bad.

I have oil swished, too! Not for any length of time, thoug. It sure rids the teedh of build up! Shock

Regarding the candida, has anyone altered their diets? Cut down on sugar, etc./ If you don't, how well do the probiotics work?

Thanks.

I got the Miessence Mivitality probiotcs. It's a brown, foul smelling powder so I put it in a smoothie. Smile Only one dose so far.

Has anyone experienced dizziness as a detox symptom? I feel a bit off-kilter this morning. Sad

Scally - Unfortunately I haven't been able to find pure boric acid caps. I have to buy the 00 gel caps and boric acid powder and make my own. Kind of a pain but it's worth it. Tonight I start the candaclear and can't wait to see how it goes.

red77 - yes, dizziness is a detox symptom. I've had it a LOT lately.

Hi guys, hope your all well.
I've been taking my OoO for about a week now, not really sure if I feel any different. I really wish I was like scally who is sooo in tune with her body! I thought I was, well I am to an extent, but not to the extreme where I know exactly what and how things are affecting me, so sorry not much of a "review"!! Athough I am getting used to the taste and can handle it now.
I'm not really sure what I should be feeling anyway Confused
I've ordered some kefir grains which I'm really excited about. Do you need to still take probiotics even if you drink kefir daily?
Also, do men get candida? I made my boyfriend do the spit test this morning and it didn't look very healthy at all. It didn't have legs as such (but that maybe because I moved the glass) but it dissipitated into the water and bits sat on the bottom of the glass. Over the past five years he has taken a lot of anti-biotics due to injuries.
Thanks guys,
P

Hi, Preenie! First, yes, guys get it and can pass thrush back and forth to you (fun, huh?). Second, try taking the OoO at night and your priobiotics first things in the AM (on empty stomach) - I also continue w/Threelac throughout the day. This seems to have me more balanced out. I have had more energy - the first thing I noticed but I'm certainly not "there" yet. In fact, I actually pulled a 20-hour day yesterday, which is unheard of for me - oh, and I slept only 4 hours but very badly the night prior. Of course, I was a wreck by 10 pm on the plane, but, hey, that can be expected for anyone. I was taking OoO in the morning along with Threelac and got my yeast back down below! Doh! I realized thanks to Frodo's post that I was killing everything (good and bad) with the OoO so this stuff is POTENT. I think it will take a few months of steadily killing/building new before I feel totally correct or close to it, anyway.

I'd also keep taking probiotics even with kefir as I drink kombucha along with mine (similar effect).

Red77, I have altered my diet significantly and take in as little sugar, as possible. I still eat very small portions of fruit daily but the refined stuff is out about 98% (I did put sugar in coffee yesterday but normally never drink it).

Tam, thanks for the boric acid info. I do need to pick up some gel caps.

Thanks, Scally. Sugar is my downfall, I'll really have to keep an eye on my consumption.

Do you all think it's okay to take my powdered probiotic in the am (with MSM) with a smoothie--can't get it down any other way (on an empty stomach)...

Thanks for your suggestions. I'm flying blind, here. Smile

Yes, sure. Take it that way, shouldn't hurt but you do HAVE to give up the sugar as it feeds the candida fungus. Of course, this depends greatly on how far along you are and if, like me (medium), I don't think natural sugar within reason is out of the question - the other, though, (processed) avoid like the plague.

Well that explains alot, I had a feeling we were passing it back and forth Confused But I kind of thought it was primarily my fault, as I always thought of it as more of a girly thing. But I think its probably his huge consumption of antibiotics that has done it..grrrrrr!!! But hey I still love him
It will be quite hilarious tho, he's always taking the pee out of my huge collection of supplements (which is growing larger by the day. Literally!)now he's going to have to partake and jump on the wagon with me.
It might actually be easier doing it with somebody else, kinda like a gym buddy! I'm also having a really hard time giving up the sugar. I don't even usually have that much, but typically, now that I'm not supposed to I'm craving choclate!
Regarding Probiotics, what should I be looking for? I saw one that was advertised as high potency 10 billion friendly bacteria. It seemed to cover lots of lactos and bifis, seven in all, plus a prebiotic. Is this the type of thing?
cheers,
P

Thank you so much for starting this thread!!! I've been reading up on Candida lately, because I hae problems that are just not normal for someone my age... I have chronic pain in my hands & feet (joint pain), was sent to a specialist, and she can't find anything... I thought I had IBS or some such disease because of chronic diahrea, went to a specialist... he found nothing. And on, and on, and on... Recurring yeast infections...

And I keep thinking to myself, it is not normal for someone my age - 28 - to feel this way...!!!

So I've decided to try the Renew Life CandiGONE kit. Has anyone out there given it a try?

And can someone tell me what OoO is and where I can find it?

Red - yes the Miessence certainly has an "acquired" taste but I'm so used to taking weird supplements in raw form I can bear it all! Try mixing it with your shake to dilute the taste it won't affect anything and saves time. You can actually freeze it to lengthen shelf life as it will not freeze into a solid form.

Preenie - when you are looking for a good probiotic there are many "stages" to go through, if you want to fully replenish friendly flora and are currently suffering candida you need something STRONG - bacterial count in the high billions and preferrably full spectrum (not just acidophilus), once you have finished 1-2 bottles of a replenishing probiotic you also need to continue supplementing with a reasonably high count probiotic for a few months to ensure unfriendly flora don't overpopulate.

The Miessence product I recommended does not have a specified bacterial count so I only use it as a long term supplement and I do go back to these 20-30 billion count probiotics every few months as a "booster".

There are myriad probiotic brands out there and I have only tried the Nature's Way acidophilus capsules and Adult Formula Powders. I prefer powders since I am getting an unadulterated product without fillers and it works out better value for money (though expensive one off cost).

I have also come across another brand called Udo's Choice which seems to have a wide range of probiotics that contain many strains of flora not found in regular brands. If I were very studious I would take multiple probiotics and prebiotics to maximise health benefits.

As for kefir - I have had a very *nasty* experience with the stuff which lead to 4 days of food poisoning. I think it was mainly my fault, never culture milk at room temperature for three days!!

- -
For those who are looking for fiber supplements - I make a "mixture" of my own from psyllium husk, fructose oligo polysaccharides (FOS - soluble fiber and prebiotic), flax seed powder and slippery elm; all of which are relatively cheap and neutral tasting. I have not been able to find an affordable supplement which contains a variety of sources of fiber. The last one I tried cost $50 for a tin though it was certified organic and had 12 sources of fiber, it did not help at all with bowel function but did a great job of being a quick meal replacement.

Has anyone considered colonics as part of a canidia treatment?

Thanks for that Miranets, I'm going to have a search around the hs this weekend, if to no avail I'll look online. I'm also considering colonics. I haven't looked into it yet though. Do you think there's a particular time during the candida treatment that you should start with the colonics, i.e is it best to start once you've started killing off the bad bacteria with OoO or threelac etc, to flush the baddies out and detox?

gottahaveitall- OoO is Oil of Oregano, some of us are using it to kill the candida bacteria. I'm not great at explaining stuff, but if you read the previous posts, all the info should be there. I've only just started taking it, so not much to tell, apart from that it tastes foul!!

Oh my god, I don't think I could ever do the cleanse properly! What do you eat?!! meat/fish and veg!! I'm pretty healthy anyway, but that's just boring. I thought I could at least have my rye bread, but even that's a no, no!
Also your not supposed to have ACV, but I thought that was okay. Somebody mentioned earlier that they drink it three times a day, to HELP with the candida Confused I've been adding it to my salads everyday since!

God, are you guys sticking to this? How do you do it?

Also, can I put my boyfriend on the same cleanse plan as me, including OoO, msm etc. Will they have the same affect. Ooh he's going to have lovely long hair and nails Laughing

I think I'm just going to go to a health practioner as I'm getting too confused, I don't even know how severe I have it.

I wasn't able to get it up either... what's the deal with that?

In any case, I did this one and found it to be a pretty complete questionnaire:

I think I must have some sort of low level. I've experienced headaches, sleeplessness, random aches and pains, heartburn and bloating! Something's going on in there Bad Grin Die you buggers!

Pretty soon I won't have much room for food cuz I'm taking so many supplements Wink I've been pretty successful at keeping the sugar consumption low Very Happy

Since my second colonic I think I may have upset my flora levels or carried internal candida "down there" and now I have developed the first noticeable symptoms of a yeast infection!!

My diet has not changed significantly and I have actually increased my probiotic supplements, so I have no idea why I am getting these symptoms when I have not had an infection for almost two years...

I was looking at the BioAlt site Scalawaggirl suggested but the OoO is in a diluted base - does that make a difference for potency? There are a few sites out there carrying undiluted and certified 85% for a range of prices, from $20 for 1oz to $45 for 1/2 oz and they all claim to be certified wild/organic... I am seriously considering this and L-Glutamine to help my long procrastinated battle with underlying candida.
