For some reason, I keep thinking that you are not supposed to use BP at the same time as Retin-A (or is it VitaminC??) Anyway, does anyone remember if BP reacts with any of these products...or if I am just loosing my mind, LOL!

According to Paula Begoun in her book The Beauty Bible benzyol peroxide should not be applied at the same time as retinA because it inactivates retinoids (except for Differin). I think it is okay to use both RetinA and BP if they are applied at different times as long as it isn't too irritating.
I have heard that BP should not be applied at the same time as the ascorbic acid form of vitamin C but have never heard exactly why this is the case. I heard this information from several retailers of IS Clinical when I was looking into using C serums and was at the time using BP. The only thing I have been able to come up with on this is that warnings for the chemical BP indicate to not mix it with acids or with reducing agents. I don't know if this applies to the amounts of BP commonly used in acne medications but since ascorbic acid is obviously an acid and is a reducting agent I wouldn't take any chances without researching it more. |
