After reading several reviews on Vit C serums, I am even more confused!!! Besides cellex c (which I used years ago and never really liked), has anyone out there experimented, or had stellar results with a particular brand?? I was given a sample of Vivier's Kine-C (by a salon), which I quite liked, but I see Vivier produces several C serums...more choices, more confusion. EDS is currently out of stock of the Kine-C, so I am considering options while I am waiting to see if it is re-stocked. Any info you can send my way would be appreciated!

I like the 12% made by professional solutions. You can get it from cellularskinrx at eds or other places. Very stable and well priced. From past experince I avoid water based serums as they oxidise very quickly

I second guapagirl's recommendation for the cellularskin-rx serum. Very stable, no extra ingredients, and I haven't had any problems with irritation. And much less expensive than most other serums. I had tried PSF's vitamin C serum and found it too tacky on my face, but they've apparently recently reformulated, so you might consider the PSF one as another well-priced C serum.

For me, the two hands down winners are -

Candy's Triple C - in love with it

PSF's *new* formula Vitamin C - Great revamping of this product.

Of all the C serums I have tried (and there have been many) I would end up with teeny bumps, no glow, no help in my melasma...etc..to the point I was thinking "what's the big deal with C anyway?"

With both of these I have had no averse reaction whatsover - do get the nice glow, have seen (I think) a slight lightening to my melasma on my cheeks and my skin looks healthier.

PSF's new formula absorbs very easily - not tacky at all in my opinion (I have normal to dry skin). I haven't yet added the freebie of ferulic that PSF sent along with the promotion, but I think I will. I had to go read up on what ferulic actually does before I added it!

Both are really, really good products!

Obagi and MDForte both have really nice VitC surums. I've used both and currently use the Ogagi. I love it. It's very fresh and light.

I just started using Candy's, and really like it. It absorbs right away, and isn't tacky or sticky at all.

The Vivier Kine-C was really very good, and although I had only 2 small vials,it did last me about 2-3 weeks. I used it on select areas and loved it.It did seema bit sticky right when you put it on, but once it absorbed a few seconds later it felt great. I will definately try it when it becomes available again.I really appreciate all the good advice you have given, as I now have options to try. I do like to have 2 different types of a particular product because I beleieve in alternating. For example, I may use one C serum morning and a different one at night. It seems the PSF Vit C serum is one to try...great reviews, high concentration of Vit C,and a good price too!! I must admit, that I broke down and bought todays SHOWSTOPPER on TSC (canada). Although cellex-c is not one of my favourites, you couldn't beat the deal...$84.00 for a 30 ml. bottle, a 15 ml. bottle, a bottle of the the hydra 5 B complex, 30 ml.sunscreen, and a tiny pot of night time moisturizer. I may just use this cellex-c for my decollette which is an important area to take care of!!

Vivier 20% C is still one of my favorite C serum. Effective but gentle and its stable.

I'm trying really hard to like Vitamin C but I am having issues with it making my face shiny. I have Candy's Triple C and Skinceuticals. Can I mix it with something? Maybe HA? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would have thought mixing it with HA would change the PH so it wasn't so effective, but better than wasting it.

If you have oily skin take a look at the Skinmedica silicone based C serum. Very effective, but too drying for me. A lot of oily people seem to appreciate it.

Does anyone know the approx. shelf life of C-serums, once they've been opened?
I guess the best way to store them once opened would be in the fridge? I've kept mine in the bathroom; guess that's probably not the smartest idea...? Confused

I had PSF's 20% Vit C go bad on me after just 2.5 months (there was a third of the bottle left). I used Obagi 10% for 5 months and used it all up and it never went bad. You can tell when C goes bad by a change in color (it gets yellow). I think how long it lasts depends on brand and especially packaging. Keeping it in the fridge wouldn't hurt, but it's a bit of a pain.

I think I may try the new PSF! My mom used Skinceuticals for a long time, but when I tried it, I hated the sticky feeling it left on my face.

I've used PSF and didn't really like it. It went off in just a month and I kept in away from the sun! I've been using Vivier 20%. It has a really nice texture...more like a slip on your skin. Plus it doesn't dry out my skin like PSF did. At first I thought I couldn't see any difference on my skin at all, but decided to keep using it any way. I then became lazy and didn't use it at all for 2 weeks. Oh my...I couldn't believe how bad my skin looked without it!

I use a serum with more than just Vitamin C. Skinceuticals is a great line and my facialist swears by them.

For summer, I use CE Ferulic:
This revolutionary new antioxidant combination delivers an unprecedented 8 times the skin's natural protection against photoaging - neutralizing free radicals, helping build collagen, and providing unmatched antioxidant protection. More protection means more youthful looking skin and better defense against environmental aging. Containing 15% pure L-ascorbic acid and 1% alpha tocopherol, the addition of ferulic acid doubles the already synergistic benefits of our original high-potency formula, C+E, transforming it into an unrivaled super-antioxidant combination.
