That's skinceuticles B5 gel...It's a moisture booster and is really good as it's full (30%)of hyaluronic acid. I think it possibly saved my face recently!
Well worth it! Very Happy

Here is the B5 description from the EDS website:

The seemingly miraculous active ingredient is pure hyaluronic acid—one of the most effective moisturizing agents ever discovered by medical science. Hydra 5 B-Complex utilizes natures own incredible moisturizer to improve the smoothness, suppleness and texture of your skin.
Identified biochemically as a glycosaminoglycan (GAG), hyaluronic acid was isolated about sixty years ago from vitreous humor. It’s name is derived from the Greek word for glass—hyalos—which accurately describes its transparent, glassy appearance.
The surface layers of the skin are supported from below by columns of fibers made up mostly of collagen and elastin. This network of fibers form the ‘molecular sponge’ known as connective tissue. The spaces within this sponge are filled with a composition of water, protein complexes and hyaluronic acid. This jelly-like complex is necessary for transportation of essential nutrients from the bloodstream, via the capillary network, to the living cells of the skin.
Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in great abundance in young skin, synovial fluid and other tissues in humans and animals. Over time, oxy radicals, produced mostly through exposure to pollutants and sunlight, degrade and destroy hyaluronic acid. Fifty year olds are estimated to have less than half the hyaluronic acid they had in youth.
Contains genetically derived hyaluronic acid not an animal derived substance.
Contains pantothenic acid (vitamin B-5). Studies show that this vitamin helps speed wound healing.
Can be used by men and women including those with sensitive skin.
Oil-free, crystal clear gel which instantly gives your skin a silky smooth texture. Ideal for all skin types.
Benefits:

Facilitates better absorption of vitamin C.
Supplements the skin’s natural biological replacement of hyaluronic acid.
Skin feels more resilient and extraordinarily smooth to the touch. Perfect base for all types of make-up.
Restores youthful translucency and buoyancy to the skin.
Smoother, more radiant looking skin will be noticed in 3 — 6 weeks.

B5 gel helps your skin hold moisture better and use your moisturizer more efficiantly. It really is a great product!!

The only thing is that I had read that hyaluronic acid is a humectant so if you live in the desert or some other place with low humidity, the HA will pull moisture from the tissue to plump itself up, rather than pulling from the air. Of course, if you moisturize I guess it would pull from the moisturizer? Is that right?

Think of it like little sponges in your skin. It pulls moisture into your skin and holds it there. Your skin makes this compound naturally, but as you get older, it makes less and less. By using a B5 gel, you replace what your skin used to make when it was younger. B5 makes it much easier to keep your skin hydrated because it helps your skin make better use of any moisterizer that you use. It draws the moisture into your skin and keeps it there.

Pantothenic acid is B5 and Hyaluronic acid is the hydrating compound that your skin makes naturally, but diminishes with age. B5 gel has both of these acids in them.

...so it's the B5 that enhances moisturisation, not the HA? Confused And it penetrates the skin barrier too? This is very confusing!

Hmmm... does this clear up some things, guapagirl?

HYALURONIC ACID (SODIUM HYALURONATE)

• natural humectant with excellent water binding capabilities
• capable of attracting and retaining 1000 times its own weight in water
• assists as a carrier for other agents to be delivered below the skin's surface
• ability to retain water gives immediate smoothness to rough skin
• occurs naturally in the dermis
• allows the epidermis to achieve greater suppleness, proper elasticity, and turgor (.6sodium hyaluronate is the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally; we use sodium hyaluronate because it is water soluble)

PANTOTHENIC ACID (PART OF VITAMIN B COMPLEX)

• facilitates permeation of the epidermis
• allows the skin's repair systems to function properly
• Vitamin B5 is known to help with tissue repair
• commonly found in liver, eggs, dried brewers yeast, and royal jelly

B5 always helps. It is like a booster for you moisturizer. Use it before you put on your moisturizer.

I've switched from the B5 to relaxaline as that is mostly HA and it certainly keeps my skin moisturised...and it's cheaper Very Happy

Hi Guapagirl!

I thought Relax-A-Line is to relax facial muscles, is it a moisturizer too?
