This serum is available on Ebay, but you have to pay the big bucks because it's sold out in stores. |

I'm trying to tell myself I don't need this since I'm already using Tazorac. Ugh! Boy, do I want to try it! |

I just went towww.boots.com and saw this.
Boots launched North American in 6 Target stores in Denver, USA in 2004 and extended to Target locations in a number of regions across the US; Boots products were also introduced into a limited number of CVS stores in the US, and with Shoppers Drug Mart in Canada.
I guess I will start digging more and maybe I will find this in the US.
Looks like you guys in Canada may have a shot as well. |

I'm intrigued by this too. I asked on the thread in the lounge, but do we know if it's as effective as tretinoin without the downside; sun sensitivity, irritation.
Boots themselves advertise its primary ingredient is a pro-retinol complex
Here is the most detailed breakdown of the other ingredients I've found yet
"These include antioxidants - vitamin C, mulberry and ginseng - which health experts say mop up free-radical chemicals in the body which damage cells.
It also contains lipo-pentapeptide, created from amino acids grown in laboratories. Amino acids are essential to the functioning of every cell in the body.
Boots also claims the particular lipo-pentapeptide used in the cream actively promotes the production of fibrillin in the cells between the outer layer of skin and the supporting layer beneath.
Fibrillin is a protein associated with the creation of elastin and collagen - the skin's equivalent of the springs found in a mattress.
The final element of the serum is an extract from the white lupin flower.
It is suggested this slows down the production of collagenase, which is created by sun damage to the skin."

BluesHeart - Did you actually buy this stuff? You couldn't tell us the ingredients, could you? I know, sorry, it's a bit of a chore but I'm very intrigued. |

OK...leave it up to my "marketing guy"!!
He just came down here and said, when I'm over in Europe, one method of "sales" is to "buy" an article in the paper, get someone to claim scientific results, and then ride the wave of sales whether it works or not!!
I can see his point. What if the Boots company slipped this story into the paper knowing that the initial frenzy would make even more news and cause a mad rush of sales? I'm not saying that's what is happening, but the marketing guy has a feeling....
Luckily, I'm not in marketing, I'm a cosmetic chemist. So, I don't think that way and prefer to look at the scientific studies and look at the ingredients. Also, I tend to wait until I here more good anecdotal results before I make my decision on the product, good or bad.

Molly,
I searched online and it's coming up as available at my Target. It's got a somewhat different name here in the States. N0. 7 Restore and Renew. I'm heading over there as soon as I get dinner for my girls. I'll post later when I get back. Assuming it's really there.

But John there was a documentary last night here in the UK - you'll see below, a thread about it in the lounge. It seems the news reports are true in this case.

Besides, Boots is sometimes very ahead of the game. It was with sunscreens and this isn't the kind of marketing they get up to. |

Do you mind me asking what you paid for it? I am unable to figure the conversion from Boots website. |

The products do look interesting. Is there anybody in the UK that uses this line of products, actually anybody? |

Went to 2 CVS stores & 2 Targets both in my area. Neither CVS carried this though both Targets did. No Protect & Preserve to be found, not even in the pamphlet they had at the display.
They did have something called Refine & Rewind, and not knowing the exact ingredients of the P&P this may be the same product possibly re-named for the US??
It does have a Vitamin C derivative, the Retinol, the lupin extract & ginseng extract. I checked their site (Boots) and couldn't find the P&P to compare. Oh, it also has a TON of silicones....
*ETA - the Restore & Renew doesn't have the same ingredients as the articles linked mentioned - some but not all.... |

Yep...after the Horizon documentary there has been a feeding frenzy in London Boots stores for the product. It was based on Reagan's own experiment though (she also found Prevage to be very good) She also tried some other products for hair and skin. I recall seeing quite a bit of dimethicone in the No7 products when I got a gift set for my mom though. I did try and get a few bottles for her yesterday and had no luck but trust me it is just a short term stock problem and there will be more on the shelves soon enough. No need to run to ebay and pay the leeches there. There was a similar run after Loreal Perfectslim and it ended up being false advertising. So, I will wait and get her to try it when trusty Boots gets their massive production capacity cranked up to max in a few days. |

personally I have never been that taken by No7 products. The actives are always waaaaay down the list of ingredients and they often have a nasty skin feel to them. The only Boots thing I really liked was the time delay cleansing balm and that is not from the No7 range.
I'm wondering is it absolutely clear the woman was talking about the Boots product (still haven't watched it cos guapaboy is always lurking when I'm not busy!) and not about another product when she was filmed using the Boots one? |

You are right ( but of course) the actives as they are, appear that the tail end of the ingredient list. Target had 1 of each product open for testers. I only tested a few on my forearm & on the back of my hand. ALOT of silicones. So - it at least feels nice going on!

I'm picturing Candy in a "detective mode" with the flaps up on her hat like the policewoman in the movie Fargo, along with a magnifying glass walking into CVS/Target hunting down No.7 and bringing the info back to the Forum to give it a look see. |

There are actually two products, the one Candy mentioned and another one that sounds very similar. I wasn't impressed with the ingredient listing at all so I didn't buy anything...well, not entirely true, I bought an eyeshadow that reminded me a little of the IQ eyeglows. I found one of the night creams to be more interesting than the R&R products.
Sorry.
