I'd like to make something. I've noticed just lately that my hands are aging, the skin is looser and less pale.
UG!!
I'd like to make a pot of something to put on last thing at night that will firm and hydrate and lighten.
Has anyone here done this and have some thoughts to share?

A few years ago, I started using the same things on my neck, chest, & hands that I use on my face. But I think the most important thing that I've done over the past several years is use sunscreen on them daily. But the other products I use on them are CPs, IFP DMAE/AO mist, IFP Rejuvenating Serum diluted with the facial spritz, & IFP Pearlfection creams.
I think the hands benefit from the same things as the face. |

I was thinking of a rich night treatment that I can slather on and is going to be there for eight hours solid. |

Hi Catski,
Interesting that you should post this.
Just yesterday I finally received my topical glucosamine [N-acetyl-glucosamine] and niacinamide ... which act together as skin lighteners. I got it specifically to address some freckles and some definite beginning-age-spots on the back of my hands.
I regularly use Vitamin C on my hands and arms ... and I use hand cream ... and when I remember I even put my Silken Pearl Paste on 'em. All those things helped a lot ... but I'm hopeful that the glucosamine & niacinamide will put things over the top.  
I read about this combination over at the Skin Interactives board ... and here's an interesting article on topical glucosamine.

That's interesting, Mary.
I have some pearl powder... maybe I can add it to a concoction.
I'm thinking of lemon oil and extract, as a natural whitener. And for skin firming, maybe some Q10. |

| I use the DDF glycolic lotion on my hands. It has made them smoother and gotten rid of spots. I use Candy's body butter and sometimes her hand cream during the day. |

| I've been using my TCA Complex from PerfectComplexion on my hands at the same time as I do my face, every 2-3wks. Awesome! |

Hi helenzwl!
I'm just guessing, but it might be because your hands are usually exposed to more harsh elements than your face. That is, repeated washing with soap throught the day, contact with various chemicals when you clean, etc. I also try to use the same things on my hands that I do on my face, but I always find I still need addtional moisture. My favorite is Candessence "Encore" lotion - http://www.candessence.com/Body.html . Really keeps my hands soft, but without the greasy feeling I get from a lot of other hand treatments.

| I am experimenting using tazarac(heavy duty retin A) followed by Boots7 Refine and Rewind(supposed to really work to lessen wrinkles.)I only put it on my right hand so I can compare with my left to see if it works....so far no change at all.,its only been a week though. |

| I think at night it is great to treat my hands to the same high quality serums & creams I use on my face. That way my hands can benefit (and repair) during however many hours of sleep I manage to get. During the day, I go for a more "protective" cream because of the weather, hand washing, and general wear and tear our hands experience. To be honest...I think any rich cream is good, as long as you reapply occasionally throughout the day. Just find one that has a consistency that works for you. Two that I would recommend are The Body Shop's Hemp Hand Cream (the only thing I buy there), or Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour hand cream. |

| IMO sunscreen is best treatment you can give your hands. At night I use the remaining liquid from Dr. Denese's Firming Pad (Glycolic) and go over my hands. I apply any cream I have available (hand). During the day I put a moisturizing sunscreen on my hands. This regime really helps my hands stay young and spot (age) free. HTH's |

I do the same thing with the Dr. Denese Facial pads!! I also use tazorac on my hands which I think has really helped to improve the appearance of my hands.

| How about roughness? My hands are so rough even after applying jurlique hand cream. If i scrub with sugar and glycerine, it will be better but just a little bit. Is there anything that can remove dead cells on my skin??? |

The glycolic treatments people above mentioned do a nice mild exfoliation (I use DDF). I saw a real improvement when I started using this at night.
I have a bottle of Candy's hand cream at work and use it during the day. |

| I'm been putting cp's on the tops of my hands and arms when I use it on my face at night with a lotion on top. It's fading spots and the skin appears to be getting firmer. |

| I exfoliate my hands now too. I use IE 2MM. It's very gentle but effective. Then whatever I have left over, after applying to my face and neck, I use on my hands. |

At night, I use DDF Glycolic lotion with Candy's body butter over it, thanks to Sharky's suggestion.
In the morning I use Candy's Triple C and then a sunscreen.
My skin seems better but I really need to remember to put on hand lotion throughout the day. |

| Most of us put sunscreen protection on face only and forgot the hands. This is the major reason of hands aging. So, I use hand cream with SPF now. |

1 ounce glycerin
1 ounce witch hazel or vodka (preservative)
1/2 ounce rose water (nice but optional)
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons wheat germ oil (good for firming)
1 tablespoons lemon juice
Whisk all together in a glass bowl. Store it in a tightly sealed.
Hint: If you find it a little too greasy, just put on rubber gloves and put your hands under very hot running water......it makes it absorb right in. I put mine on before cleaning up the dinner dishes.. |
