For treats I give him Greenies which he just loves |
PLEASE be careful with Greenies...they get stuck in doggie and kitty intestinal tracts...
My friend's dog had to have intestinal surgery because of dog Greenies. My cat threw up his normal food because the pieces of Greenies (which he too LOVED) were getting stuck in his GI tract.
I'm surprised that Greenies are still for sale. I won't go near them. I got a bag of the Cat treats in a Christmas gift and after seeing a report on the TV knew to throw them out.
Story of bowel obstruction from Greenies for doggies:

Another dog article:

There are lawsuits with Greenies:

The treat has actually KILLED some dogs.
ETA: The composition of feline Greenies is different than the dog variety, therefore some consider it safer, and some vets say it's just like regular kibble...but I can attest...they can obstruct little kitty intestines! |

For dental health, the best weekly treat for kitties is a raw chicken wing to munch up (but it MUST be raw...) |

I wish I could get mine to eat them! There's a lot of smelling, some licking but never any munching... |

I've tried the following over the years:
Natural Balance
Innova
California Natural
Solid Gold
Nutro (Natural Choice)
The Nutro was OK but I don't recall it being great. I stopped with the Innova after I was told that it had "too much protein which can cause kidney trouble". Seems a bit odd to me, the idea of a carnivore having too much protein, but what do I know? I don't remember the Natural Balance very well. I'm currently feeding my cat the Solid Gold soft food and crunchies and occasionally substituting in the California Natural crunchies. My cat really likes the Solid Gold soft food since it's very similar to canned tuna fish. I really like that they sell the small sizes of wet food in pouches instead of cans. |

Hmm, don't ususally have fresh raw chicken wings handy. You'd have to make sure they were really fresh and they haven't sat around to become laden with bacteria or you run the risk of giving your cat salmonella poisoning. I'd also be afraid of my cat choking since the bones can be quite thin and brittle and can become lodged in its throat. I think I'll stick with natural bagged treats. |

I did use Nutro Natural Choice weight control for my cats. It was ok (I'm not sure how good it was at the weight control part...) But after the recall, I've switched my kitties to Felidae. |

Companies that do raw food diets, such as Amore, also do the raw chicken wings. As Tiger Tim mentioned, they are excellent for dental health and cat usually do not choke on the bones provided they are raw. Cooked chicken wings are another story... |

Good research! I feed my cats only with natural ingredients. Found a lot of great info at Pet Wellness Advisor’s page - Tried the Nutro wet cat food first and they seem to like it so far. |
