Hi!
I have been using AHA cleanser from the skincarecentral.biz for the last two months and I am currently running out of this cleanser. It takes atleast 1 week for me to get this cleanser delivered even if I place the order today. With Easter vacations coming up, I am afraid I wouldn't be able to get this delivered for another 2 weeks . I am literally out of my cleansers and I am in the midst of purging . I don't really want to use some soaps/cleansers that would worsen my currently healing skin barrier.
I kindly request you to help me out in using a safe alternative for the next 2 weeks. I have found out an organic cleanser with a pH of 4,6 and the ingredients are
AQUA, COCO GLUCOSIDE, SAPINDUS TRIFOLIATUS EXTRACT, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS SEED OIL, SIMMONDSIACHINENSIS OIL, CAESALPINIA SPINOSA GUM, CITRIC ACID, ALCOHOL(I hope it is ETHANOL. I ain't sure if it is denatured though. I can mail them and ask if this is the only issue), XANTHAN GUM, SYZYGIUM JAMBO
Please let me know if these ingredients with a pH of 4,6 are safe and clean! If not, please suggest me another alternative! I live in Europe and if someone could help me with a good cleanser that I could buy locally, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Wish you all a very happy Eater and happy holidays!
with regards,
Taciturn Boy

I'm sorry but I use Cetaphil and I am very happy with it. But I have not idea what the PH balance is. Can you ask for an overnight delivery? It will cost more though. |

sorry, but we can't tell the pH from the ingredients. As far as safe and clean go, I'm not sure what you mean. They aren't going to kill you, certainly.
A german company Sebamed makes gentle, low pH cleansers, you might be able to find those. they are pH 5.5 but that's within range. |

I thank both of you for your suggestions.
My query is not honestly about the pH value. The pH of the above cleanser is 4.6 and they have specified this in their website. My worries are about the presence of any harmful detergents that could damage my skin barrier which has just started to heal.
I know Coco Glucoside is an anionic surfactant/mild detergent. But, is it a very harmful detergent? Secondly, the cleanser also contains soapnut extract which is a natural soap obtained from a South Indian fruit. Is this soapnut a harmful detergent? Finally, this cleanser also contains alcohol and when I asked them about the type of alcohol, they told me it is corn alcohol which she claims to be less drying than SD Alcohol 40.
If you could help me in clarifying the above doubts, it would be very helpful for me.
I am already using Sebamed body wash and I wuldn't use their face wash(Eventhough it has a pH of 5.5) as it contains SLES/SLS and other detergents.
Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
Taciturn Boy |

Maybe ask on the DIY board those about specific ingredients -- those ladies tend to know a lot more -- although I'm not sure anybody is going to know much about the extract you're asking about. |
