has anyone done it? I just had one on Monday. it says you are supposed to see results immediatley after the treatment but all I can see is my skin was really red afterwards. Today is the third day after the treatment and my skin is very dry. i dont notice any acne marks faded away either... Am I too impatient? |

Yes, you are impatient. It takes more than one session to see a difference. I didn't begin to see a difference until my third session. Plus, right now your skin sounds irritated so give it another day or two to see if any of your acne scars are lighter. |

I've been dying to get one done. Grace, where did you go? |

Yen, I went to Caryl Baker, it has multiple locations in Toronto. I got mine done in Exchange Tower. If you work in downtown, you can certainly find one near your office.
Since there was a promotion that i can get it done for about CAD 65 dollars. I tried on Monday. The aesthetian pursuaded me to buy another 6 sessions (for 100 dollars each). she also recommeded Emergin C d-red products to me for my broken capillaries. I bought 3 products and just found out EDS carries them at lower prices plus my discounts! oh I hate myself!!!! |

Thanks Grace! I've been looking at Pure + Simple $129 (www.pureandsimple.ca) and Ici Paris $99 special this month(www.iciparis.ca).
I've yet to make up my mind.
It always sucks to pay more for products. I hope those products work out for you. |

I'm not sure if there is a problem with having microdermabrasion while pregnant. I would ask Dr. Todorov onwww.smartskincare.com. |

gracedhy, did you end up buying the D-Red? I have some what I think are small broken capillaries around my nose, and I was thinking of trying it before they get worse, but was hoping to read a review first. |

I noticed a difference after my first visit. I think it is normal that your skin woul get dry after a couple of days. I would exfoliate with a non moisterzing cleanser and/or scrub then use your moisterizer.
Gracedhy: What a great bargain you got! I must look into it. I normaly go to Pure for my treatments. |

Yes, you can do microderm during pregnancy.
Did your aesthetician put a calming, moisturizing mask on after? Also, I would look for a place that does microderm with baking soda. Regular microderm machines use aluminum oxide which is a skin irritant. So of course its going to make skin red. Baking soda is 100% natural, its a medical grade, it works just the same, your skin does not get red from it and when you leave the facial room your skin looks awesome!
And if you have broken capillaries microderm should not be done on your skin. Or if you don't have them all over your face just not those areas. |

Does any one know how long the effects of microdermabrasion last (after the recommended set of treatments)? I asked at my local clinic since I was there for some laser treatment but the therapist said that the effects are very temporary and that I should go for a fruit peel or something like that instead. Before I spoke to her, I was planning on going for a set of treatments but now I'm a bit confused. Does any one have any advice on this?
Cheers

Actually my skin looks great immediately after microdermabrasion.
Having said that, I think the skill of the operator plays a big part. I once had it done by a different woman, as my usual was on leave, and my face looked terrible after, with red blotches all over, and my skin is really tough. God knows what it would have looked like if I had sensitive skin. I think she used too much force/too high a setting. |

I'm on my 2nd series of 10 and I love it. My secret is after you have it done wash your face with a gently cleanser (to make sure all the crystals are gone) and then put vasaline on your face. I know people are going to freak out on this but its the only thing that works for me. Any moisturizer I've tried had not been moisturizing enough. I noticed a difference after my first 3 or 4. Make sure you are using very gentle products inbetween treatments...otherwise you will get really dry.
Stick with it...oh...and make sure she is using rough enough crystals...she can change them. |

I have dermabrasion done once a month. Yes, skin is red afterwards but, in time, my skin became smoother and my pores smaller. |

Hello Olivia,
May I ask how frequently your treatments are scheduled? I think my therapist mentioned I'd do a course of 6 fortnightly.
What effects do you see? I have a dull complexion at the moment and some fine lines under my eyes...
Thanks for your help,
Tina |
