| This is my first time here, obviously. Im 16 and im going through the acne stage of puberty. It's not too bad but i, for as long as i can remember i've had this little lump on the inside of my ear. It's about the size of half a sunflower seed. It doesn't bother me at all, its not sore or anything but today i just started to poke at it. It popped, like a zit, puss filled. It began to bleed alittle and something chunky came out so i quickly got a tissue and cleaned up. i checked it in the mirror and it went down in size, smaller than a pinhead. Anyone know what this might be? Should i have it checked? |

it's probably just a cystic zit. Keep an eye on it to see if it becomes sore, changes colour or starts weeping lots of pus (which it is bound to do if you pick at it, so DON'T!). I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but if you ARE worried, see your Dr or pharmacist. HTH

It sounds to me like it could be a sebaceous cyst. That's just a sweat gland that is overproducing sebum (a wax-like lubricant for your skin). But you should have your doctor take a look at it. You also want to make sure that it doesn't get infected from you squeezing it and touching it with your fingers. It doesn't sound like anything serious, but better safe than sorry. I'm a cosmetologist - not a dermatologist!
