I had a bad fall when I was 4 and developed scar tissue in my urethra ... so I've been battling UTIs for over 20 years.
Usually I get Macrobid from my ob/gyn but I'm out and need to make an appointment.
I heard Cystex has an analgesic and antibacterial agent. Any others? I think Azo and Uristat are analgesic only?
Thanks! |

Hi, Rjez. There was a whole discussion about UTI's and what to take for them just last week:

I kept having recurrent uti's so i was prescribed trimethoprim, it is an antibiotic but if you suffer from recurrent utis you can take one every night to stop them coming back. |

Thanks everyone. I'm allergic to many of the antibiotics (sulpha, cipro) for UTIs so Macrobid is it for me. |

As you will read in an earlier post by me, I absolutely swear by D-Mannose, found at health food stores. It has cured UTI infections for me, my dad and my son without any antibiotics. (I have suffered with chronic UTI's for as long as you so I feel your pain!) It's just the sugar from cranberries (concentrated) that doesn't allow the bad bacteria to adhere to the linning of the bladder and grow. It's a colorless, tasteless powder that you mix up in water or juice. It's not like just drinking cranberry juice, but like cranberry juice power times 1,000! I keep it in my house and in my suitcase when I travel at all times. Good luck to you! |

I drink pure cranberry juice I got at Trader Joe's. It is bitter as no sugar was added, but I think of it as medicine. It worked for me. I don't recall the last time I have to drink the awful juice. It's a really long time ago, maybe 5 years ago? |
