Hello, I'm 23 and my skin is rapidly thinning and I believe it is due to taking Nature's Way Cod liver oil ... Dosage is 3 capsules daily (I took it religiously and as directed), I used it because I heard how good Cod liver oils were... within days my skin became so smooth, plump and it improved the thickness so my veins were less visible. I stopped taking it after 8 months because I was starting on a multi-vitamin and I didn't want to increase my Vitamin A intake... I read that taking more than the recommended dosage can be toxic... after stopping, in 3 days I noticed that my thigh bone always cracks (like when you crack your knuckles) after sitting for a short time, luckily that went away after a month. The plump and fullness of my skin quickly disappeared and it hasn't recovered after a year, it left my skin saggy, thin and loose, it looked worst then before starting. Imagine a balloon... before blowing it up, it is smooth and firm... when blown up, it's plump and full then when you deflate it, what is left is a wrinkly and flaccid balloon.. that's how my skin is and I don't know what to do. It looks old, dehydrated and tired.
Can you please give me some advice? Did anyone else have this problem? |

I took Cod liver oil for a couple of years but atomatically changed to EFA compound which has Salmon Oil, Evening Primrose Oil and Soy Oil all in the one tablet, and actually noticed more plumping, I would suggest you start including some sort of flax seed oil or lectin granules or EFA compound. I wonder whether I would have started sagging if I had of not taken any oils. |

Might be good to have the problem diagnosed. I would consult with a Dermatologist.
Sounds like you may need some serious damage control and healing.
Most things can be rescued and fixed, as long as you do the right things and know exactly what it is your fixing.
I would go to a Derm/Doc.
I might also contact the company and well.....maybe make a complaint. |

I'd def go see a good dr. There might be something else going on here, I can't imagine your skin deflating at your age, due to stopping cod oil.... |

I suggest to see a dermatologist. |

How strange!
Did you lose weight at all? Are you on a lowfat diet and maybe your body is low on essential fatty acids?
I'm sorry that happened to you! It must have been kind of scary! |

I'd go to the doctor and have some blood work done just to rule out any underlying problems (in addition to the Derm). Take care and let us know how you are doing!

When I stopped using the Cod liver oil, I lost 2kgs... but other then that my my eating habits are still the same. I'm currently taking Thompson's Salmon Oil... I've been using that for about a year but I still don't see improvements. |
