Hello,
I'm interested in trying a new vit C product. It's been a while since I posted and I miss you guys!!
I've learned that PSF is now only selling their newest 15% Vit C that no longer has glycerin in it (after EDS runs out of their old stock of emergen, they will also only be selling the 15% stuff)
Firstly, does anyone find the new glycerin free Vit C 15% to be drying? It should be ok for me in the summer, but in the winter, I tend to have tight feeling skin.
Secondly, how does PSF compare to the Alpha Derma C&C stuff. AD is more expensive for half the size, so I'm wondering if it is better because I've read good things about it.
Is the difference in the magnesium ascorbyl (AD)versus L-ascorbic (PSF)?
All opinions greatly welcomed THANKS!! |

Hi Cautious
I can't think of a link that compares the two.
I've used C&C and I've used L-Ascorbic serums (though not PSF's)
There are big differences between C-ester products and L-Ascorbic.
C-esters (apart from the latest one, Tetra) are not proven to stimulate collagen production so really it's just the anti-oxidant protection you're getting from them. They're gentle because they're neutral.
L-Ascorbic - well proven collagen stimulator and UV anti-oxidant, BUT acidic so slightly exfoliating and can be irritating.
If you liked the results L-ascorbic serums have given you before I'd go for one of those again. |

Thank you so much for the info.
I didn't know that c-esters don't help with collagen.
I was just concerned with the new PSF 15% because they took out the glcyerin and I'm scared my skin will be dried out or irritated without it.
Thanks. |

Sorry, just looking at the JB website, they do indicate that their C&C boosts collagen levels...so is this just misinformation or is it because of the sodium ascorbate.
It's all very confusing...everytime I decide to buy new products, I go through this |

Your link was broken.
Please revise it.

Noname - the link isn't broken. If it doesn't work for you go towww.smartskincare.com and look under recent articles "Anhydrous vitamin C combo. Making the best of vitamin C skin care."
Also have a look through the antioxidants part of the forum and you'll see they are less proven to stimulate collagen production.
I've tried various L-ascorbic products and various C-ester ones (including the C&C) and find none of the ester ones live up to the promise including Tetra, which makes sense considering the serious tests of that were using it combined with L-ascorbic and not alone. |
