does anyone know how to make the sugaring solution/ball for waxing? my sister has her facial hair remove when on holiday and she said the lady used a sugar ball which she kneeded to soften, then she pressed it on to the skin and pull it off. apparently she used this ball several times until the treatment was complete.
thanks |

Frodo!
What an intriguing site! Complete with directions for Pubic Hairstyles!
I just hope DH doesn't stick his finger in the solution thinking I'm making candy.
Wonder if I could cook this up in my electric leg wax warmer thingy and reuse it -? (fuzzy fudge!)

Edit: I tried this method tonite, and guess it takes a while to get the knack of it! I ended up with a pot full of GLUE! I did manage to salvage enough to sugar-ball my face and it's nice! I defuzzed my entire face, fuzzy "rabbit cheeks" and all and don't have to worry about the wax clogging my pores and causing breakouts - it all rinsed off with hot water! Not at all painful either.
The recipe is a bit time-consuming though, so I might just get some GiGi Honeywax next time and see if that's the same idea. I know I've seen Sugaring products at the supply store somewhere. Thanks for the idea- much better than waxing and a good way to get rid of all that sugar in the back of my cupboard!

I read about this technique only yesterday and am really interested in trying it out myself.
It's all natural, cheap and the other benefit is that the more you do it, the more time it takes for the hair to grow back and it comes back softer and lighter. I had the opposite experience with shaving it off with a razor, which made my hair come back darker, thicker and longer.
Here's a video to make the recipe:

This video shows an already prepared paste and how to use it:

You also need to make sure your skin is not greasy and maybe put some cornstarch on it before applying the paste. |

This is the best way of waxing, its good for your skin and it doesn't hurt as much as cold or hot wax.
I had this done in Jordan the lady did my legs, underarms and brazilian under 15 minutes, I was so impressed.
I really need to try this myself but Im afraid I will make a sticky mess. After watching the video I feel I might have a better hold of it, lets see. |

I know this is a weird comment.
But I JUST saw a foreign film last week (I forget what country) - and the woman ate some of the sugar wax before using it on her client. I couldn't figure out what she was doing - so is it really edible??
Also, and if you guys have already tried it - then you would know because this was just a movie afterall - but 2 "clients" had the wax and they looked like they were in great pain - screaming and pulling away. From that film alone I would NEVER try it... but you guys make it sound decent. |

Yes, it's edible as it is made of sugar, lemonjuice and water. It's like kandy actually

I've never done real waxing on myself, but I've read from several that sugaring is less painful than waxing. With sugaring you can use 2 methods: either by molding the paste and applying it to the skin and ripping the paste off (which rips the hairs off at the same time) or spread a thin layer on the skin and then apply a piece of cotton cloth and rip that off.
I've tried it for the first time yesterday and I used it with cotton fabric, it worked really good. A bit painful, but I'd think the other technique is less painful. My paste was too sticky for the other technique though.
I'm gonna experiment more the next time . |

The movie was probably Caramel but they probably had them look painful for the effect. By the way, the therapist was not doing the waxing properly. No pattern or technique. But then she was acting but I thought it could have looked more genuine as they other actors in the salon were not trained actors. |

Sugaring hair removal is the best method out there. I think with the right recipe, temperature and method I can get a salon like wax for nothing. |

I tried traditional sugaring paste at home, and it was hard to manage it in hands and to have it at right temperature, to hot room and it stick to the skin, to cold and to hard to work. I tried white one and it took me a few minutes to warm in hands but after that worked amaizing, Legs, Brazilian, Underarms… so smooth, I got it from EBay for $7 it took 2weeks to arrive but worth it. Pain factor, after Braun it was fun. |
