Hi everyone,
I have finally seen an improvement in my acne prone skin due to some prescription antibiotics and I've decided for the first time ever, to try a tinted moisturiser instead of foundation.
I've done lots of research and read many posts on here and MUA and think I've narrowed it down, but can't decide between the following products. I know everyone will experience different things but I'm going round in circles reading contrasting reviews!
So, I'd love to hear from anyone who has used all or some of the following:
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser - I think I'd be sand in this (I normally wear Bobbi Brown Warm Sand foundations stick, please correct me if I'm wrong on the shade). This won In Style best TM which sounds good. Not sure if I would go for oil free or not, I've heard the oil free one turns a bit orange. I have normal skin with some shine in the T zone.
Elizabeth Arden Sheer Lights
I have a sample of this in medium, and the shade is nice on me. I do find it quite hard to blend across my face though, almost feel like I need a moisturiser underneath it if that makes sense.
Stila Sheer Colour Tinted Moisturiser
Again I think I'd go for medium but have heard this is a very oily formulation. However, it did score highest in the Beauty Bible tried and testeds which sounds tempting.
I'd love to hear your opinions - then I can get purchasing!
Thanks!

Hello dear!
I use Laura Mercier oil free version and it doesn't turn orange at all on me. However, I've noticed that it doesn't cover my redness I'm starting to develop as the temperatures go up. It doesn't break me out and with a light dusting of MMU my skin is amazing.
It's a definite repurchase for me but I think I might save it for the winter months down here. The heat makes me flush and while I don't expect a TM to cover, my skintone becomes uneven because the redness shows through on my forehead and area around my nose once I go outside (95 degrees will do that to ya!)
I'm combo (oily t-zone) though I've heard the non-oil free version still works for us oily gals.
I haven't tried the other two though |

Hi
I use the Laura Mercier TM (in Nude) on days that i don't want to use foundation but wanted to even out my skin tone. I like how it works pretty good to even out my skin tone and provides SPF 20 for sun protection, but it doesn't really cover up my freckles (which i really don't mind). I think it's hydrating, but i feel that it can sometimes clog up my pores, esp. in warmer weather (i live in Los Angeles, which is pretty warm and sunny almost everyday). Perhaps i need to try the oil-free version and that might help solve this problem. Right now, i am considering the Juice Beauty SPF 30 Tinted Moisturizer cuz i wanted to try sth different and start using more organic products. |

Another vote for Laura Mercier. It provides a good coverage and even the non oil-free formula isn't oily. I have very dry skin and I need to wear another moisturizer underneath it, so if you have normal skin, it should be moisturizing enough for you. However, I'd try out different shades first. I'm wearing Nude at the moment and I'm about Sand in Bobbi Brown. I used to wear Sand when I was much more tanned and it's MUCH darker than Nude. From what I remember, Warm Sand isn't much darker than Sand in Bobbi Brown at all. |

Yet another vote for Mercier Primer and Tinted Moisturizer (in Nude for me). As I have dry skin I don't use the oil free but summers in Toronto can be very hot so we'll see if I need to switch to the oil-free for the summer months. |

Has anyone tried tinted moisturizer from Sisley? |

My vote is also for Laura Mercier TM. I have used it for years and love it. I have acne scars that I cover after applying and I would suggest using a moisturizer under it. The SA told me that it is not meant to replace your moisturizer at all...just a sheer base. |

Oh it's just dawned on me. I've used Elizabeth Arden Sheer Lights (in Fair) before. It actually provides a pretty good coverage although it's not as pigmented as Laura Mercier TM. And if I remember correctly, it's also moisturizing. I didn't need to use another moisturizer underneath at all. |

I just purchased the Boots No.7 TM (Smooth and Sheer, or something like that) after reading great reviews on MUA and how it was far better than Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, etc. I've only used it twice but so far I really like it. They only had two color choices at my Target in fair and medium so I don't know if these shades would work for you, but I think it's definitely worth trying out. It also contains an SPF of 15. HTH! |

ye, the color is a little bit too dark and the texture is kind of greasy, and the smell... is a little bit terrible. But it doesn't hurt the skin, such as prones to cause acenes. |

Thanks for your reply. What shade did you try it in? And what shade are you for reference? |

For LM, you need to cover it up with loose powder to prevent it from melting. |

I've also been looking for a tinted moisturizer. So far, I've tried Bobby Brown, the one from Burt's Bees and the Laura Mercier one. I've also ordered one from NCN Skincare but it hasn't arrived yet.
I'm really looking for something that makes the skin look dewy - at the moment, the LM is winning hands down, it gives a very nice finish to the skin without being cakey. |

If you're looking for something that will make your skin look dewy, I'd recommend Elizabeth Arden's tinted moisturizer. It does come in a few shades and is moisturizing enough on its own without having to use another moisturizer on top. The coverage isn't as good as that of LM's tinted moisturizer though, but it sure does make my skin look dewy! |

Hi Andaman gypsy,
Elizabeth Arden TM gets some good recommendations on MUA so I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks |

There's another TM that I recently purchased and I quite like it a lot as well. It's MD Skincare All-In-One Tinted Moisturizer. I got mine from EDS. |

I just went and purchased the Elizabeth Arden TM and have to say that it seems pretty good. I actually only wanted to get a sample but the SA said that it is against company policy to put the product in a container and give it to the customer because of contamination (although this was not a problem with Bobby Brown) and they have no ready-made samples. I think this really sucks. So I had to fork out $AU52. Anyway, as I said, I like it, but it is quite sheer.
I'm now leaning towards the Burt's Bees TM - this also had good reviews on MUA although some said that it went a little thick on the skin and was hard to spread. I've found that this happens only when you use too much product - a little goes along way. The coverage is good and its quite glowy. It doesn't have an SPF, but for me this really isn't an issue because I use a sunscreen underneath anyway. What I really like about this one is the ingredients - it has things like coconut oil, beeswax, sunflower oil, rosemary extract.
Now I want to try the MD Skincare TM - its getting a bit ridiculous because I already have about four brands |

LM TM is extremely pigmented. I find it too thick - more like a foundation. LM foundation used to be my HG.
Stila gives you a nice glow but it has little/zero coverage. More an illuminating effect.
I highly recommend BB TM. It spreads really well and gives you a subtle and natural glow for the whole day! I too am suffering from acnes (now under control) and my skin reacts well to BB.
Good luck in your search, I certainly can relate. |
