I just found this thread (thanks for resurrecting it). I read back a little bit about muscles / wrinkling and wanted to ask how you swish. Do you swish vigorously where your cheeks are puffed out back and forth, or just subtle pulling back and forth? Thanks.

I just swish like I'm rinsing my mouth. Not too vigorously or your cheek/jaw muscles will tire & begin to hurt, just sort of keeping a steady swish for 15-20 min. Then afterward I rinse with warm saltwater & brush with baking soda. Takes some getting used to, but anything worth doing is worth doing well. And for me, OPing is certainly worth it.

Necrobump!

I go through phases where I'll oil pull for a week or so and then forget about it until the next month. I do it for the added oral health benefits, as I don't really believe you can detox the whole body through the mouth.

Anyway, it seems like on the days I'm pulling it's harder to see the mouth creases. Anyone think it might be because I'm working out the muscles there, or is it my imagination?

My teeth look whiter afterwards. And I also get a burst of energy shortly after i finish OP as well as have more energy throughout the day.

I should go back to Oil Pulling more regularly as I have neglected it in the past three years. So happy for this thread, such useful reminder for me Smile thank you!

I oil pull about 4 times a week with coconut oil. I dont remember the rationale or explanation, but I had read somewhere that it might not be as beneficial to do it every day. Something about it being too much for the teeth and gums.

The one that got me was where he says "Cleared vaginal infections" ha ha.

Seriously though I've not heard that castor oil should be used for oil pulling because it can be toxic to the body if taken internally. A lot of Victorians died as a result of ingesting it - so its not advisable to do oil pulling with that.

If you can get an organic avocado oil great - but the ones in my shops are not suitable for eating or using for oil pulling.

So it goes to show you got to use common sense with these things too!

Castor oil isn't toxic to the body unless you drink loads of it, which is not the case when oil-pulling. It is actually sold as a natural laxative and even comes in pills.

In fact, the recommended dosage for the Castor oil I have is 1-4 tablespoons for adults or 1-3 teaspoons for children aged 2 to under 12 years of age when used as a laxative.

Microcurrent near the brain can damage tissues, and some responses here prove that this is possible.

Because the list i copied and posted here is just a compilation of users testimonials to specific oils.

I'm not rubbishing castor oil - simply stating that I have never heard it recommended for the purposes of oil pulling on its own. I do know that from what I learned in history it was administered as a medicine (and still is to this day in some places) and for some people they died as a result of taking it. Sorry but I'm going by history books here and would take those words anyday over people who post under alias on the net.

I use castor oil myself for OCM, but would not take it internally. Same with colloidal silver, yes its got anti-bacterial properties but even that has the power to turn skins blue when overdone.

So yet again I go back to my original point - that common sense is a must when using anything.

I'm staying out of the castor oil debate.

I really like oil pulling with coconut oil. Out of all the dental home remedies out there, I think oil pulling and brushing with activated charcoal are the two best.

^I've never heard of that side effect before. That's a little scary! Maybe you're forgetting to breath the entire time you're pulling?

Bumppppp

What sucks with oil pulling is that when i overdo it everyday once a day,i end up with two /three zits aka signs of detoxification.
So i have to take again a break and continue after a week.
Fortunately i have stopped getting inside the mouth and on the tongue zits, which really were disturbing,so to me it seems it works through removing toxins.

Anyone experiencing the same thing?
Seems that too much too soon is not a good thing in skin care . Namaste Smile

If you feel headache in a way of increased circulation,i mean if you feeling the blood and heart beat to the brain and causing tension,it is
probably removal of stuff that block circulation.

OP theoritically should be harmless.
What oil are you using.Sesame seems to me the smoothest.

I oil pulled with sesame before. I'm currently oil pulling with coconut oil. Are you also using a tongue scraper after and/or before? At first I wasn't doing it till I read early on that a tongue scraper is important. If u don't have one you can alternate with a metal spoon. I believe my glow results is a combo from a lot of things. Diet, (I'm working on trying to eat a portion of a green food (spinach, broccoli, etc) with every meal)also since I can remember, I only use natural things to clean my skin. Honey, pure oatmeal(shower looks a mess) but well worth the clean up.lol And a few other things. Anyone had results with allergies and oil pulling? o_o.
