Hi there! I just started using the Obagi line about 2 weeks ago. I was reading some posts...and two members related stories from family members who had used Obagi for 3 and 5 years...and their face became very dry...and had lots of broken capillaries. Has anyone else noticed that? How long should I use Obagi after my initial treatment period? (OK, I know I'm getting ahead of myself...but what can I say...I'm a planner...and a bit paranoid ) |

My mom has used their products for 3+ years, and her skin has never looked better. I am amazed by it and keep thinking she must be doing something I don't know about, but says its obagi and Renova. |

This is my concern too!
I have been using Obagi for more than 2 years and really love it.
But my skin is quite dry, and I am afriad of having any other side effects in the future. |

Hi, I am new here, first post. I have been told that the more Obagi products you use the better sucess. What if you can afford them all at once? Is there one or two that will help with dark spots, redness and wrinkles around the eyes without having to buy a whole kit? Later when I can afford more I would add more products but I don't know if this will work or not. Also, which of the products actually causing the peeling? |

Hi Glenda64! Congrats on joining EDS...I've gotten so many good tips here! I agree that using all the products is the best way to go. I think the Retin A definitely causes redness and peeling. And, several of the other products contain hydroquonone...and I think that my cause some of those same effects. If you can't afford the whole kit now, my best suggestion would be to save up for the whole thing...because if you are just using a few of them, you won't get the full benefit, and may need to replace them as you are getting ready to add more (depending on the timing of course). I was told the line should last you for about 14-18 weeks...because you use so little of each product at a time (about pea sized). I'm using a bit more than that because I am also putting it on my neck and decollatage. A couple of other options. Perhaps there is a medical spa or dermatologist that would let you make payments??? Or, you could purchase as many products as you can find online - you may be able to find them cheaper (keep posting on EDS and get those discounts!!!) My whole line cost me about $500...the Obagi line cost me $325 or $350...and then the Retin A was about $100...the rest was taxes. If you do wait and save up...start using a really good sunscreen to ward off additional sun damage (get one in addition to your moisturizer, because I've heard that those in moisturizer may not be as effective). Best of luck to you!!!! |

Glenda64 - the cornerstone of obagi is hydroquinoine and Retin A - so if you could not afford all of it, the most important 2 are the Obagi Blender and Retin A. HTH! Obagi used to be really popular on the YTF skin care board and you may be able to find some useful info on that board. HTH! |

I was thinking about you last night as I did my routine, and realized that if it were me...I would NOT want to wait...and wouldn't have liked my own advice I agree w/rileygirl about the blender and retin A (which requires a prescription). I was thinking that Clear or Exfoderm (an exfoliant) would be really good to start with as ell, because they do help w/pigmentation, lines, etc... Sorry for my previous advice...you can eventually get to all the products if you want...but these could help you get started. Did a bit of research for you You can look on their website (Obagi.com) and click on the "For skin care specialists" section...then "Product Detail". It will tell you about the individual products and what they are supposed to do. This should help you make a more informed decision about what you want to start with. There is also "protocol" info that will tell you how to use each product. Also, make sure you use a really good sunscreen, because the hydroquonone alone will also make your skin more sun-sensitive. Big Hugs! |
