Look for a official government site and request a new copy. |

I think you have to contact the state in which you were born, and possibly even the hospital in which you were born.
Though I'm not sure. I'd do it over the phone, not online, though. Because you know you're going to have to provide your SS# and you don't want to give that to the wrong people. |

If your in the US, call the county court house. If you were born in another state, They can send you a form, or direct you to their website. I lost mine once. |

I had to get multiple copies of birth certificates for my husband, son and myself when we adopted our daughter. Each of us were born in a different state in the US, but the procedures were all very similar. Contact the dept of vital records at the courthouse in the county in which you were born. They will provide with with necessary procedures, fees, etc. for obtaining a duplicate. I don't remember the specifics, but I think I had to provide information to prove who I was--mother's maiden name, date of birth, etc. and have my request notarized. It was surprisingly easy. |

No, no, no, don't order your birth certificate online. I don't know that website but it sounds sketchy. Definitely go through government channels. Like others have mentioned, contact the county you were born in. |

When I lost mine I called the hospital where I was born, and they directed me to the proper channels. |
