| I have an oily and acne prone skin...can anyone recomend a good foundation? |

Hi Evelin, I've used so many foundations thru out my years. I can say I have been happy with Sheer Cover. It's a powder that works in with your own oils thru out the day. It also has a finishing powder that works like a light corn starch, (and does not turn into gravy on your face  )I've been pleased with the results. Good luck |

If you have acne prone skin then I would say mineral makeup, so Bare Minerals, Jane Iredale, GloMinerals etc etc Great (buildable) coverage, good for acne prone skin, plus very light weight.
These powder foundations are also GREAT when used as a concealer for pimples or scars. |

I highly agree and recommend the mineral makeups - I will never go back to "regular" makeup again - they feel great and look great and are good for your skin.

| I see so many posts on the mineral make-ups but I wonder if they don't settle into every little line you have? Powder seems to do that on me so I'm reluctant to try the mineral makeup....Anyone who actually has a few lines on their face use the mineral makeup and can say if it settles into lines or not? I use my powder very, very sparingly.... |

I've read the raves about mineral makeup as well, but I've also read reviews where people said it was difficult to apply and the powder goes everywhere!
Anyway, my suggestions are MAC Studio Fix it's great for oily skin and you can apply it with a blush brush for a more sheer coverage. Also I like Laura Mercier Oil Free Liquid Foundation - it goes on amazing. The makup lady will show you how to apply it for sheer or full coverage ( you don't NEED the primer she will try to sell you though I love it).

I had a wedding to go to in Bermuda in June when the humidity there is practically 90% all day long. I freaked out about going from one event to the other and being a melted mess and saw the baremineral infomercial one morning and said I might as well try that. My facialist had recommended the Jane Iredale website about 8 months before but I was skeptical about powder foundation, the price, and buying online, so I never did anything about it.
I bought the fair kit as I am extremely pale and ended up ordering the 1.0 as well which was the right thing to do because it tends to be darker than it looks. I liked it and used it on my trip but there are some things to definitely keep in mind:
1. It gives coverage by using color so the further away from your "natural" shade the better it covers.
2. You need a good, long-lasting or time-release moisturizer underneath to keep from drying and "cracking".
3. Apply over a sink because it is messy and wasteful sometimes. It is also not any quicker than applying regular foundation and powder if you actually use it to cover anything. When you watch the girls on the video you will see they spend several minutes at the pre-concealing stage.
4. The colors tend to be darker than they make it seem so if you are deciding between two sahdes go with the lighter one. The auto shipped kits are actually a waste of money because they are cheaper in the individual full size containers especially if you only use one shade and you should absolutely never need the amount of warmth that comes with the kit at the intervals they send it.
5. I would never "sleep" in it because you must wash your face every night and it does rub off if you touch you face with a tissue or clothing as you sweat through out the day just like regular makeup.
All that being said I still use it daily and have never used my regular foundation since.
P.S. I tried a bit of Sheer Cover at a friend's once, and it was too dark plus if you have to use a traditional concealer then you miss out on the benefits of mineral makeup. |

I am so glad that you posted coz I always have problems applying the baremineral in hot humid summmer, you are right, the mineral makeup does dry (even in humid weather) and crack as the day goes, it could be a mess for me, I actually got an embarrased moment with this BE foundation when shopping around in a mall, one of the SA pointed out that to me, I could actually see my foundation cracked into patches, I didnt notice it until I saw myself in the mirror closely! I was soooo embarrased that I never used it again in hot humid weather, I still use it in winter though 
Alright, that's my story still feel embarassed  !!! What I am interested is what are some rec of that time release moisturizers / long-lasting moisturizers that you may give  ? I would like to try to see if I could go back to mineral foundation, coz I really like the idea of using pure mineral, thanks!  although I never will sleep in it of coz! |

I started wearing Bare Minerals in April and stopped using it a month ago because I didn't like how the foundation settled in my creases/wrinkles on my face (I am 39). Also, if you perspire, it becomes flakey. It made me look more aged. But, the Mineral Veil and Clear Radiance do not settle in the wrinkles, and the eye shadows are great! So, now I am looking for another foundation that is oil-free with an SPF in it.  |

| Earlier I posted about Laura Mercier. I've been researching and Nars Oil-free seems to get really high marks. Good for skin, and is really blendable. Something to try! |

So do you think the Mineral Veil can be used instead of foundation if your skin if fairly clear? I really want to find something I can wear over my sunscreen and that little bit of concealer on days when I don't feel like getting out the old spackle and putty knife! |

I have very pale skin (like a ghost) and I find the mineral veil to be translucent but it will not give you the coverage of a foundation. But I do like that the mineral veil seems smoother, silkier and the minerals must be crushed finer than the foundations are, because I have no problem with it settling in creases. The mineral veil is best used to get rid of the shine on the face during the day.

I have to totally agree wtih MystyPines! Although I found the foundation not being the right choice for me, I do love the mineral veil and their eye shadows! They are of better quality when compared to the foundation!!
I do wear mineral veil alone with only moisturizer and sunscreen underneath on days I dont feel like waering makeup, it doesnt give any color but a polish finish! However, this can be a bit dry for me during the winter time. I have combo skin.
The eyeshadows, interestingly, have much better stay-put power than the foundation! Maybe it's due to the fact that we only use e/s on a small area |

| Thanks to both of you. Now, Mabsy, how do you think the Jurlique "Dust" (Rose or Lavender) compares to the Mineral Veil? Has anyone used both of these? I just want something to go over sunscreen and a bit of concealer on days when I don't want to wear foundation. A more natural look but not a "just got out of bed" look. |

I have used both but quite some time apart and I'm sitting here trying to remember how they compare but can't. In terms of coverage, neither provide any - so no diff there. The Jurlique smells WAY better than the mineral veil and I think they are quite comparable in terms of controlling oiliness. If I had to chose I'd go with Jurlique.
Btw, if you want to try it I can put some in a little bag for you and send it off. Not sure what customs will think of a tiny bag filled with white powder though |

I have been plagued by the same horror of trying to find the right foundation. I have discovered a product that works perfectly for me. Depending on your skin tone, you might want to look at Keromask products. A little tube of this is pretty pricey but I have found that it works fabulously as a concealer. I currently use a Matte foundation from Estee Lauder and mix in a tiny tiny tiny bit of the keromask to give me the best color. Its a great help!

Well, the Jurlique actually looks pure white in the jar. But, have you tried YSL semi-loose powder? It does have some color to it (though not much) and it's got a really funky shaving mechanism that converts the pressed powder to loose powder on a "need" basis.

I have used B.E. Mineral Veil and both of the Jurlique silk dusts, rose and lavender. (I'm using the lavender one right now). Although they don't give coverage, they are great at controlling shine and really set foundation or cover up nicely. I agree with Mabsy, I'd go with the Jurlique, it smells wonderful, has great ingredients (no talc), and although white it goes on translucent, and is very silky and fine. I love it, both the rose and lavender are awesome! |

The only foundation which has never caused a zit on my skin is...
AVEDA BASE + BALANCE
I have tried several others over the years and always return to this one. It is great for your skin, their concealer is good too. I love it!!!
I also love the Jurlique Rose Dust. I have never used it to set my make up, but rather as a treatment dust with added skin benefits at night after I use their Herbal Recovery Gel. |

| I have exactly the same skin type and have finally found my HG in chanel -- their foundations are fantastic. I used to love mac Studiofix until a few months into using it I got the worst congestion and it took me MONTHS to get rid of it. Good luck. |

I am a little late to the game on this post, but I have been away for a bit.
I too have been on a foundation hunt for quite a few months now. I have tried tons of stuff and nothing to my liking.
About a month ago, I stumbled upon Chanel Voile Universel foundation. I have never used anything chanel (mainly because the chanel SA are all kind of scary with all that eyeliner and shadow!! ) This stuff is awesome!! It makes your skin look perfect and you really cannot tell that you are wearing foundation. It is very sheer, it evens out your skin tone and covers up small things. (oil free, sf 15) I have somewhat oily skin and usually by the end of the day, i look a bit melted here in the texas heat. This stuff still looked fresh at 10pm with minimal touch ups. Pair it with Laura Mercier powder and it is perfection. And I swear that my skin is looking better and better the more I use it...they say that it has a multi-vitamin complex in it...who knows.

I have this! I've got it in the lightest of the four shades, which still looks WAY too dark in the bottle. Once on the skin though it does blend in so it's very forgiving in terms of shade selection. This is nice stuff, but it really offers a tint rather than coverage. In fact I kinda feel that the coverage given by this foundation would be pretty close to zero. It feels nice though - like nothing on
