I've been usingthe Avene sunscreen containing Tinosorb, but ordering online is expensive and 50 ml doesn't last long if I'm applying it in the correct amount for protection. I'm going to be in Vancouver in a week or two and would definitely take a field trip to Shoppers Drug Mart or wherever if Avene with Tinosorb is available there. Anyone know? |

If this question is outrageously stupid I won't feel bad if people ignore it, but what is tinosorb? New? Special? |

I haven’t seen the Avene tinosorbs in Canada, but there is ROC Minesol spf60 with Tinosorb— a spray emulsion in a 200ml bottle (pretty cost effective) and a cream (50 ml, so probably not an improvement over the Avene you’ve been using, in terms of cost). I visit Canada often, and have been buying them at various Toronto Shoppers Drug Mart stores for $20ish.
I’ve been using both products for a couple of months and quite like them. The spray emulsion is quite nice: it’s easy to get the full 1/4tsp needed for full protection on, and while it’s bit shiny (like most sunscreens), it’s not sticky at all. I ran them through the CIBA sunscreen simulator and they got a decent but unspectacular PPD of about 10.5, which isn’t really state of the art but which I consider adequate for myself, especially as it's photostable. |
