OK, I know that the US shipping prices have been raised hugely lately, but why is there so much difference?
I got a parcel from NCN in a largish box in 4 days cost $10.
Huge 1950s petticoat on it's way $20
Vintage sunglasses $6
bottle of PSF C serum $20 -25
dianayvonne.com about $6
and I won't even get into the personal formulator!
Why is it so varied and so bloody expensive? I want the PSF with ferulic and I'm fussy about getting fresh C which is why I would want to order it direct, but the shipping price is really off putting!
OK PMT rant over. As you were! |

i know!
i wish the system was a bit more standardised
even in the UK, when i go to the post office in england it charges me more than the post office in wales. once p&p was £10 in england but the parcel containing the same thing, when posted in wales was about £6 |

Shouldn't make any difference because it's all royal mail. That said my local PO didn't have the new size guide thing so I managed to post a load of 'large' packets for the price of small ones
I rather suspect it's down to covering costs. I suspect I'll get my psf C serum from eds and just buy the ferulic separately from elsewhere. |

u got a good deal with your posts!
i had no idea the prices have all gone up and i had to send this dainty little think for £1.20! well its not a lot, but still i used to only get charged less than a pound
are there no UK based companies that u can order from? but saying that, sometimes ordering from abroad (plus shipping and custom charges), is cheaper than ordering here |

I think UK skincare is very brand orientated. You don't get small companies like psf selling good actives at decent prices. And I buy a lot of vintage foundation wear as well which is stupidly expensive in the uk because there isn't as much of it about I guess. Mind you the petticoat (which is a flippin' STUNNER! 5 layers of edged lace net with a black lace overlay) still isn't here. I am not going to be happy if I don't get it because a) it was expensive and b) it is fabulous!
do you get skincare stuff from the UK then? I almost always get from across the pond! |

oh wow the petticoat sounds stunning!
yeah, come to think of it, there arent ANY home based companies or any small companies here in the UK...which is a shame
, i try to get my orders in the UK cos i want it fast and i dont want to be charged customs tax. but due to the costs of the products here and cos many products discussed in this forum are from Canada or US, nowadays, i mostly get mine from...anywhere really! and as u suggested, if you search around, you can find cheaper products AND some companies charge a flat rate for international orders
dont u ever get ur skincare things here (i mean UK)? |

Nope! Only sunscreen. I use CPs, emu at the mo, but I'm going to re-introduce c serum (and no friggin way am I paying £100+ for a bottle of skinceuticals from SpaceNK!) and a different retinol ...prob the psf one. Plus I like the lactic acid from dianayvone/professional solutions. You can get strong glycolic acid from lookgr8 which is uk based, but I think I prefer the LA.
I get my toothpaste in tescos if that counts!
Still waitin on the petticoat... I think I may have to put a paypal claim in... |

...dont u even go to boots? i havent been for ages cos i dont wanna spend my money on things that i dont need cos they always have that 3 for 2 deals, which makes me buy more than i intended. but just today, i got a double points coupon in the post and someone on MUA rec the Boots no7 protect and something serum for my acne...
thats the only bad thing about buying from overseas...the wait! im waiting for an EDS parcel too (i shouldnt talk about it on here though, in case this thread gets deleted ). how long have u waiting for the petticoat anyway?
i hate SpaceNK! well their website, cos the p&p is ridiculous. i was looking at Skinceuticals too and they seem ok priced in US websites
u seem to use a lot of actives/acids...wonder why there arent as many of these companies in the UK though, cos im sure theres a market for it and it could really make money! |

I buy hair dye from boots. I used to spend LOADS in there but not anymore. My advantage card is very sorry now!
Tis true. If someone started importing prof solutiond here they could make a killing! I'm too busy though |

if i had the business know-how, i would be one little rich girl right now!...instead of wondering how i can pay off my CC bills!
The thing with boots is that they really dont carry good brands and i dont like the people working in the boots that i go to |
