I've been frustrated with how hard it is to clean my kabuki brushes. The culprit, I'm fairly sure, is the Shiseido 55+ sunscreen that I use for everyday sunscreen. It's hard to get off my face, but cleansing oils do work for that. So, as I was muttering to myself today washing out my brushes, I thought, "Why not use cleansing oil on the brushes?" But, given the price of my investment in brushes, I chickened out. So...anybody try it? Anybody know why it would be a terrible idea? And anybody have a suggestion of a heavy duty brush cleaner that will KO the sunscreen residue on the brushes?

I couldn't imagine that oil would be a good cleanser for brushes. It would stay in the brush and you would have to wash out the oil with a detergent. Oil can be used as a conditioner for your hair - but you still have to wash it out with shampoo.

There are recommended cleansers especially for brushes, but I just use a mild, preferably organic shampoo.

or why not try using some oil to get all of the 'gunk' off your brush & then follow up with a gentle soap after?

just a thought...
